Explanation of the conversion: I wrote up the Slayer powers as a package. The two sets of stats represent her with and without her powers. In Champions terms Melaka is a martial artist with slightly enhanced strength and speed. The Damage Reduction is based on her ability to roll with punches as to not take full damage, she doesn't get it if she is taken by surprise. The Levels that kick in only the second time she fights someone are based on her ability to learn from a foe. When she faces a powerful foe a second time they don't seem to give her as much of a problem.

Fray #1 History: Melaka Fray was born in the 23rd century, the slightly younger twin sister to Harth Fray. She grew up in Manhattan raised by her older sister Erin. Ever since she was a teenager she knew she was stronger and faster than normal, but she accepted it without question. Unknown to anyone at the time she was the Chosen One, the Vampire Slayer. Oddly, unlike most Vampire Slayer's before her, she didn't receive dreams of her legacy, but instead Harth got them, but he kept that a secret, worrying people would think he was insane.

Melaka learned thievery and used it supplement her family's borderline existence, despite her sister's disapproval. When she was 14 years old Melaka and Harth were stealing some food when they were attacked by the lurk called Icarus. Melaka tried to fight him off, but she was severely beaten and thrown from a rooftop by the lurk before it fed on Harth. In a moment of desperation, Harth knew he was dying and bit the lurk, knowing it would transform him into one of them after he died. Melaka was taken to the hospital where she recovered, but Erin blamed her for Harth's death.

As Erin went on to join the police, Melaka eventually became a break in artist who would become employed by the mutant Gunther. Meanwhile Harth secretly become leader of the lurks, and employed Melaka, through Gunther, to collect a number of magical talismans intended to open a gateway between Earth and a demon dimension, bringing hell to Earth. During this time Melaka started to watch over a sick little girl who lived nearby named Loo.

At the age of 19 Melaka was approached by the demon Urkonn about her destiny as the Chosen One. Although she didn't accept the existence as demons or vampires at first, she learned the freaks known as lurks were vampires. Although she refused to give up her job as a thief, she agreed to train as the Slayer.

Melaka took Urkonn to the Tav for drinks and some fighting, when she was attacked by Icarus. She froze up seeing her brother's killer, but Urkonn was able to fight him off. Urkonn then took her back to her place where she recovered. Melaka decided to try to use Gunther to track Icarus, but he ended up betraying her to the police. As the police were taking her away they were attacked by a group of lurks who grabbed Melaka and took her before Harth (Fray #4).

Harth revealed he was the the lurk's leader, and how he knew what they were from the Slayer dream he gained from her. Melaka escaped and made her way to Erin's home, where she told her sister everything that happened. Erin didn't believe Melaka, so she left and rejoined Urkonn. When they got back to Melaka's home they found Loo dead. Melaka vowed to go to war with the lurks for what they did (Fray #5).

Melaka brought the body of Loo to her parents, and then was given an ancient weapon by Urkonn, which he claimed was made for the Slayer. Melaka tried to rally her community against the lurks, but was initially ignored by the people. She then took to hunting lurks, and tried to show the people in her neighborhood that the lurks were not even human. This attracted the attention of Icarus again (Fray #6).

Melaka faced off against Icarus, but before she could attack her sister Erin dropped a car on him, killing him for what he did to Harth. Melaka then raised a small army to oppose Harth's attempt to open a gateway to the demon world. She enlisted the help of various people in her neighborhood, along with what members of the police her sister could rally to their side. Harth attacked with an army of lurks and a giant serpent demon he raised (Fray #7).

Powers: Melaka is the Slayer, and has the usual powers of one. She has enhanced strength, toughness and speed and a natural fighting ability augmented by her years of training in combat. She requires half the amount of sleep as a normal human.

Melaka is an accomplished thief and she normally carries a blaster pistol or a fighting axe with a wood stake handle.
