History: Little is known of the early life of Daniel "Oz" Osborne. In 1997 he was a senior at Sunnydale High School in Sunnydale, California and played lead guitar in the band Dingo's Ate My Baby. He came to notice the junior Willow Rosenberg during a cultural exchange dance at a club called The Bronze. Oz was captivated by her in her Eskimo outfit, but failed to ask her to dance (Inca Mummy Girl 2.04).
Oz noticed Willow again when he saw her walk in front of his van on Halloween night (Halloween 2.06).
Willow and Oz were introduced to each other during the school job fair when both were offered jobs by a large company, which they both turned down (What's My Line Part 1 2.09).
Oz was shot in the arm by a stray bullet when attempting to save Willow from the same fate when an assassin for the Order of Taraki was attempting to kill Buffy Anne Summers at the school job fair (What's My Line Part 2 2.10).
In 1998 Oz and Willow attended Buffy's 17th birthday party at the Bronze together. This is when Oz learned Buffy was a Vampire Slayer and that vampires lived in Sunnydale. Although Willow liked Oz, she still held out for Alexander Lavelle Harris, until she learned Xander had started dating Cordelia Chase (Surprise 2.13).

When playing with is cousin Jordy, Oz was bitten by him, but what he didn't know is that Jordy was a werewolf (recounted in Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Oz #1).
Although their newborn romance was moving too slowly for Willow, they endured learning Oz had become a werewolf too. Oz was hunted by a werewolf hunter called Cain, but was captured and protected by Buffy. Once he figured out what was going on and had a long talk with the local expert on the supernatural, Rupert Giles. Oz agreed to have himself locked up for the three nights a month he was wolfed out (Phases 2.15).

When Oz heard Willow was injured in a vampire attack he rushed to the hospital to be at her side. Willow attempted to recast the curse that would give the vampire Angel a human soul, Oz and Cordelia assisted her. After sending Angel to hell and fighting with her mother Buffy left town without telling anyone (Becoming Part 2 2.22)
Xander, Oz and Willow spent the summer covering for Buffy with slaying newborn vampires. When they failed to kill a lot of the vampires, they decided to use Cordelia as bait (Anne 3.01)
Oz and his friends met Faith, the Slayer who was called when Kendra was killed. Oz made sure to ask about Faith's position on slaying werewolfs, and was relieved to find out she was cool with him (Faith, Hope and Trick 3.03).
When Xander volunteered to watch over the caged Oz in on a werewolf night, Xander fell asleep, and a student died, although it was later learned it was not Oz but a student named Pete who was the killer. Pete was using drugs to turn himself into a Mr. Hyde monster, and killed anyone who got close to his girlfriend Debbie. When Pete saw Debbie sharing school notes with Oz Pete became enraged and attacked Oz as the sun was setting. Oz became his werewolf self and the two fought. Pete ran off when the fight was joined by Buffy, and Pete was eventually killed by Angel (Beauty And The Beasts 3.04).

Buffy found Willow's shirt in the back of a truck at an deserted house, sent her kids home and went in where she fought the vampires and saved Willow (Buffy The Vampire Slayer #2).
Trouble started brewing when Xander helped Willow pick out a dress for the Homecoming dance, and they started a relationship behind the backs of Cordelia and Oz (Homecoming 3.05).

After telling Rupert, Xander, Cordelia and Willow about it Buffy went to work the next day where she discovered the manager summoning another ice demon in the freezer. This one was much more powerful, but Buffy and her friends were able to fight it with fire and by reading from the spell book the manager used. They then played in the snow left from the demon exploding (Buffy The Vampire Slayer #4).
Willow and Xander tried to resist each other, even going so far as to consider a delusting spell to keep their hormones in check. When Spike returned to Sunnydale and held them hostage in exchange for Willow casting a love spell on the vampire Drusilla to take him back, they fell into each others arms again. Oz and Cordelia walked in on the two making out when they rescued them, causing Cordelia to run off, fall down a flight of stairs, and be impaled with a metal bar in the old building. While cleaning up they were attacked by a large black dog, which Cordelia shot with a crossbow and it ran off. The gang left a trap and they discovered that a man who was cursed to be hunted by the black dog was looking for a cure. The black dog showed up and chased him. Despite their best efforts to stop the dog it got the man and nearly caused the death of Willow, if Buffy hadn't saved her. Willow then forgave Buffy for being irrational about Oz and the gang celebrated New Years together (Buffy The Vampire Slayer #5).
After the powerful demon D'Hoffryn refused to help former vengeance demon Anya Jenkins get her powers back by folding time and letting her correct her mistake Anya become aware of Willow's reputation as a powerful witch and tried to fool her into helping her regain her powers. She approached Willow and they successfully created a temporal fold to pull an object from the past to them, but instead of pulling the necklace Anya wanted, they pulled the Willow of the alternate reality Anya once created. The Willow of that world was a powerful vampire, who proceeded to cause mayhem in Sunnydale. Anya discovered her mistake and allied herself with the vampire Willow. Eventually the vampire Willow and Anya were captured by Buffy and her friends and they forced Anya to help send the vampire Willow back to her own reality (Doppelgangland 3.16).
Willow and Oz were voted cutest couple by their graduating class (Sunnydale High Yearbook).
In 1999, while the students of Sunnydale High were preparing for their graduation, mayor Wilkins sent rogue Faith on a mission to murder Professor Lester Worth because of his discoveries of a giant dead demon. Buffy and her friends learned the mayor's ascension was taking place during the graduation ceremony and started to prepare for it. Xander learned former demon Anya Jenkins had witnessed an ascension in the past and had her give all the information she knew to the gang. When attempting to find a way to stop the ascension of the mayor into true demonhood, Willow and Oz finally consummated their love for each other in her bedroom. When investigating the murder Faith shot Angel with a poison arrow that would kill him slowly. The only cure for the poison was to drain the blood of a Vampire Slayer. Although Buffy attempted to capture and feed Faith to Angel to cure him, Faith got away (Graduation Day Part 1 3.21).
Buffy forced Angel to drink her own blood to save his life. Angel stopped himself from draining her completely and took her to the hospital. In the hospital the mayor discovered Buffy was unconscious and Faith in a coma. He attempted to kill Buffy, but Angel stopped him. Buffy had a dream where Faith told Buffy to use human weakness against the mayor. After Buffy recovered she formulated a plan to enlist the entire high school in defeating the mayor. Willow and Oz had sex again in Oz's van. With the help of Xander, Willow, Cordelia, Angel, Wesley, Jonathan, Harmony and Larry they organized the graduating student body into a small army which survived the mayor's vampire minions. Buffy goaded the demonized mayor into following her into the abandoned school library where Rupert set off a large bomb destroying the school and the mayor. After the fight Angel left for Los Angeles (Graduation Day Part 2 3.22).
Willow, Xander and Oz went to look for a dead body which disappeared from the hospital and was found in the cemetery. Willow and Oz went to scout new lockups for his werewolf nights on campus, and found a tool shed, but it was being loaded by soldiers who told them to move on (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Haunted #2).
Willow brought Oz to a reinforced building in the cemetery to lock him up for the night of the full moon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Haunted #3).
Oz then started attending U.C. Sunnydale with Buffy and Willow (The Freshman 4.01).

vampire, but was saved by Oz. When Buffy got a hold of the gem of Amarra from the vampire Spike, a powerful ring that could make any vampire unkillable as long as he wore it, Oz volunteered to transport it to Angel in Los Angeles (The Harsh Light of Day 4.03).
In Los Angeles Oz met up with his old Sunnydale schoolmate Cordelia Chase, met her co-worker Allen Francis Doyle, and got the ring to Angel, who hid it. Angel was then kidnapped by Spike who wanted the ring in exchange for Angel. Oz was involved with the rescue of Angel (In The Dark 1.03).
Buffy was then in a bit of a slump. Willow, Oz and Xander went with Buffy to a Halloween party on campus. Buffy went as Little Red Riding Hood, Willow was Joan of Arc, Oz was god and Xander was James Bond. Xander invited Anya as his companion, which seemed to disappoint Buffy. Anya came to the party dressed as a bunny. The party was interrupted when a pint sized fear demon named Gachnar was accidentally summoned and possessed the house. Anya went to get Rupert for help and together they were able to defeat the demon (Fear, Itself 4.04).
All went pretty well between Oz and Willow until Oz met a lady werewolf named Veruca and strayed. When Veruca tried to kill Willow, Oz killed Veruca instead. Although he was sorry for his actions, he left Willow and the rest of humanity in order to figure out how his werewolf side was affecting him (Wild At Heart 4.06).
Oz eventually made his way to Hong Kong, where he spent the nights of the full moon with a family of demons who owed Oz's friend Rupert Giles a favor. He also met the demon girl named Jinan there. After nearly escaping on the third night of being a werewolf, he was asked to leave. He then made contact with a demon named Wuxi who he heard could transport him to Tibet, but found Wuxi being attacked by a demon and a vampire. Oz was able to stake the vampire and the demon was killed by Jinan, who had followed him wanting to accompany him to Tibet. Wuxi was then able to use magic to transport the pair to Lhasa, Tibet. Once there they spent the night camping and discovered that a small group of herdsmen were killed overnight. Oz made his way to meet the monk Shantou, but when they found his temple most of the monks there were also dead, although Shantou was alive (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Oz #1).
Shantou explained that his monastery was attacked by the demon lord Muztag, who enslaved most of the monks. Shantou started to train Oz in accepting his wolf side so that he could control it. He showed Oz herbal compounds that would loosen the moon's hold on the wolf. Shantou also accepted Jinan as his student (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Oz #2).
The demons of Muztag captured Shantou. Oz and Jinan allied themselves with some humans who moving against Muztag. During the fight they learned Shantou was also a werewolf. Oz learned to accept that there was no wolf, only himself and controlled his transformation during the battle and was able to slay Muztag. Having thought he could now control his transformations, Oz decided to return to Sunnydale, although he vowed not to forget Jinan (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Oz #3).
In 2000, when Oz finally returned to Sunnydale. He approached Xander to find out if there was a new man in Willow's life, and learning she had no new man he tried to rekindle the old romance. Oz was shocked to discover Willow had secretly started dating a girl named Tara Maclay. This so enraged him that he lost control again and nearly killed Tara, but was captured by the Initiative instead, who planned to do experiments on him. Riley Finn and Oz's friends helped Oz escape and he decided he should leave town for everyone's safety (New Moon Rising 4.19).
Willow, Xander and Rupert spent the night over at Buffy's house with her watching videos. They all fell asleep where they had nightmares of the first Slayer trying to kill them, who had been offended by being called on by them to defeat the cyberdemonoid Adam. Oz appeared in Willow's dreams. Buffy was able to defeat the first Slayer and they woke up unharmed (Restless 4.22).
Powers: Unlike most werewolves, who change into animal form on the nights around the full moon, Daniel has some level of control over his form. He can bring on the change on any of the days around the full moon, but
never does so on purpose. He prefers to stay human, and only changes if he is angered.

Oz was able to stake the vampire and the demon was killed by Jinan, who had followed him wanting to accompany him to Tibet. Wuxi was then able to use magic to transport the pair to Lhasa, Tibet. Once there they spent the night camping and discovered that a small group of herdsmen were killed overnight. Oz made his way to meet the monk Shantou, but when they found his temple most of the monks there were also dead, although Shantou was alive (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Oz #1).
Shantou explained that his monastery was attacked by the demon lord Muztag, who enslaved most of the monks. Shantou started to train Oz in accepting his wolf side so that he could control it. He showed Oz herbal compounds that would loosen the moon's hold on the wolf. Shantou also accepted Jinan as his student (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Oz #2).
The demons of Muztag captured Shantou. Oz and Jinan allied themselves with some humans who moving against Muztag. During the fight they learned Shantou was also a werewolf. Oz learned to accept that there was no wolf, only himself and controlled his transformation during the battle and was able to slay Muztag. Having thought he could now control his transformations, Oz decided to return to Sunnydale, although he vowed not to forget Jinan (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Oz #3).
In 2000, when Oz finally returned to Sunnydale. He approached Xander to find out if there was a new man in Willow's life, and learning she had no new man he tried to rekindle the old romance. Oz was shocked to discover Willow had secretly started dating a girl named Tara Maclay. This so enraged him that he lost control again and nearly killed Tara, but was captured by the Initiative instead, who planned to do experiments on him. Riley Finn and Oz's friends helped Oz escape and he decided he should leave town for everyone's safety (New Moon Rising 4.19).
Willow, Xander and Rupert spent the night over at Buffy's house with her watching videos. They all fell asleep where they had nightmares of the first Slayer trying to kill them, who had been offended by being called on by them to defeat the cyberdemonoid Adam. Oz appeared in Willow's dreams. Buffy was able to defeat the first Slayer and they woke up unharmed (Restless 4.22).
Powers: Unlike most werewolves, who change into animal form on the nights around the full moon, Daniel has some level of control over his form. He can bring on the change on any of the days around the full moon, but
never does so on purpose. He prefers to stay human, and only changes if he is angered.
