The following is an interview with Adam Vernier done by Mathew Ignash in December 2000. Adam played the part of Detective Kendrick in The Sanctuary. >1. I've discovered many actors on Buffy or Angel have read for other parts on the show before landing the roles they received (Charisma Carpenter read for the part of Buffy, for instance). Have you ever read for a part on Buffy or Angel before, and if so which part? I had an audition for a guest star on BUFFY, I forget the characters name but he was a dumb vampire that just wanted to KILL KILL KILL. He was described as a JOE PECI TYPE vampire. I missed the audition because I was shooting a pilot at the time. I raced from the pilot down to the casting office and talked to AMY (the casting director) for some time. She explained to me that she knew my work and would call me in for something again soon. The next time was for Detective Kendrick on ANGEL! >2. Have you ever appeared in a television commercials we might recognize you from? I have 3 commercials running right now. 1) 10-10-220 with TERRY BRADSHAW and TOBI KEITH in which we are playing poker. 2) DI GORNIO PIZZA where my son asks where babies come from and where the money under his pillow came from and finally asks where the pizza came from IT'S NOT DELIVERY IT'S DI GORNIO!!! 3) POPEYE's CHICKEN where the women is knocked out and the chicken wakes her up, I play the paramedic trying to revive her. >3. When did you shoot this episode? Late March of 2000. >4. What other people did you meet (actors and crew) and what impressions did they make on you? Everyone was really nice. Nothing really stood out as different from any other show. Some shows you find that the crew is really tight because they have been working together for so many years. Michael Lange directed my episode. The sound guy was filling in for the regular guy because his wife was having a baby. As it turned out the "fill-in" sound guy is the sound guy for MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE. >5. Can you tell us a little about your upcoming works? My website is Adam Vernier (www.adamvernier.com) where all upcoming shows and times are posted. I have a film coming out in summer called ROUTE 666 with LOU DIAMOND PHILIPS, LORI PETTY and DALE METKIFF. Also just finished a week on DHARMA AND GREG in which I play JUSTIN, a Frat boy who sharks Dharma and Kitty out of money at pool. I Also shot a real small part on a MOVIE OF THE WEEK for NBC called THE PRINCESS AND THE MARINE with MARK-PAUL GOSSELAAR and MARISOL NICHOLS. >6. Do you personally know any of the other actors or actresses who have been on Angel or Buffy? Yes, many. The great thing about ANGEL and BUFFY is that there are a lot of parts for actors in every episode. Let's see, P.J. MARINO, KELLY KIRKLAND, ANDY DYLAN, ERIC LANGE and on and on. >7. Would you want to appear on Angel or Buffy again playing the same character? Playing a different character? I was SOOOO excited about my character DETECTIVE KENDRICK because it left all kind of room to come back. I am still waiting for that to happen. I still get people using that one cool line I had: "SCULLY'S THE CHICK, RIGHT?" I hope they call me back, I'd do it for free I had such a good time! >8. Did you watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer or Angel regularly? Will you in the future? I had seen it a few times, but after I saw my episode they had me hooked. The stories are so well written on both shows and the way it comes out is amazing. >9. Have you seen your episode? What did you think of it? (Feel free to write a long answer, I'd like to place it in the "Points Of View" section of the review.) I enjoyed my episode very much. >10. Have you read through our site? What do you think of it? I have been to your site and I find it really cool that the shows have so much support. The site has a feel that maybe this will be as ahead of its time as STAR TREK was.
