Hello Angel fans! It's February 19th 2002, and today I'm interviewing Camille Mana, who played the character of Les in the Angel episode The Thin Dead Line. Hello Camille! >I've discovered many actors on Buffy or Angel have read for other parts on the show before landing the roles they received (Charisma Carpenter read for the part of Buffy, for instance). Have you ever read for a part on Buffy or Angel before, and if so which part? Yes, initially I was called in to read for a small role on "Buffy", but as I was on my way to the audition, my agent called to tell me the role was written out. I was bummed, but that kind of thing happens often. About a month later the casting director brought me in for "Angel" to read for "Callie". It went to another actress, but the story doesn't end here! A couple of days prior to shooting, I was offered a different role in "The Thin Dead Line". "Les" had been added into the script in the final draft, as sidekick to "Kenny". I guess it was karma from the first time around. I got my happy ending after all. >When did you shoot your episode of Angel? I spent about two days on set in January 2001. >How did you get started working in acting? I decided I was interested in acting at age 13, but my parents were adamantly opposed to the idea. When you're a teenager, parental support is essential, because its kind of tough getting to auditions on your bicycle! >Would you want to appear on Angel or Buffy again playing the same character? Playing a different character? I would love for them to revisit the teen shelter plot and have "Les", "Kenny", and the runaway kids re-occur. Since "Buffy" has somewhat of a younger cast, I think it's great to occasionally incorporate more kids into the "Angel" plots. It would also be fun to play a new character on either show, but I think (for obvious reasons) the producers try to avoid recycling the same actors in different roles. There's too many sharp fans like you guys out there! >Did you watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer or Angel regularly? Will you in the future? I think a lot of people don't give them "Buffy" and "Angel" the credit they deserve. There are a lot of intelligent subtleties woven into the fabric of each show. If people took a closer look, I think they would be pleasantly surprised. >Have you read through our site? What do you think of it? Very thorough. Nice job!
