  Cordelia
was evil, not quite as evil as Angel, it's true, but she was a real bitca.
Yet her character has been successfully turned around, and while she still
has a sarcastic edge, she's become almost a mother figure to the crew at
Angel Investigations. Now blessed, and cursed, with annoyingly vague mystical
visions from the unspecified Powers That Be, she is as indispensable as
Angel in fighting the good fight.
So, what's her motivation?
In theory, she was supposed to be an actress - but it shows how much her
character has changed, in that she has effectively given up this dream
to come and make Angel's coffee. In fact, she has expressed remorse for
her high school persona, and has largely turned her back on her bitchiness;
except when directed at the right quarter, of course.
The important part about
Cordelia is that her heart was always in the right place, even if it was
somewhere else apart from her body entirely. Now reunited with her compassion,
she helps the hopeless. Her future is uncertain, but that kind of goes
without saying.
