Oz:
"I'm gonna ask you to go out with me tomorrow night, and I'm kinda nervous
about it actually. It's interesting."
Willow:
"Oh. Well, if it helps at all, I'm gonna say 'yes'."
Oz:
"Yeah, it helps. It- it creates a comfort zone. Do you wanna go out with
me tomorrow night?"
Willow:
"Oh! I can't!"
Oz:
"Well, see, I like that. You're unpredictable."
Oz
is the werewolf. Admittedly the other characters are generally in some
was possessing of a dark past or dark elements, but there's a difference
between occasionally turning into a raving psychopath/demon/witch/vampire
once a Season, and
having it happen every full moon.
Oz is the quiet one, the
one with the 'cool' thing and the band. To an extent the werewolf is a
metaphor for the troubles of adolescence, and gradually coming into control
of these evil forces of darkness. However Oz's wolfiness is also a metaphor
for manly things - like Angel's misogynistic alter ago, Angelus, Oz's wolf
represents the bestial side of his nature, that which he can't control.
It's that part of him which was drawn to Veruca, also a wolf, and that
part of him which wasn't drawn to Willow
If
the werewolf is a metaphor for adolescence, then Oz has grown
up, traveling to Tibet to learn how to overcome his animal half.
However his discovering the relationship between Willow and
Tara made him lose his cool. Oz, ultimately, couldn't control
his wolf. Will he return to the show? I personally don't see
why not - his relationship with Willow has changed dramatically,
but there's nothing to stop him from returning as another Xander
character, a friend to Willow and part of the Scooby Gang.

The
Seth Green Megasite
Redesigned and very nice.
Much better than www.sethgreen.com.
A
Seth Green Site
Not exactly the most original
title, exactly, but a very good site.
OWO:
Oz World Order
Despite the deeply scary
title, this site is good for quotes, links and all that stuff.
