The Dimension

- Bottom to Top: The BUFFY Episode Countdown
by Matt -12.16.04
[ mlee@blkswan.com ]

Here we are -- the show that started it all. I love Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It was the greatest show ever made, and I miss it to death. It was requested by you, the viewers, that I do this countdown after the very popular "Angel Episode Countdown"...so here it is. Shall we begin?

Note: I want to make you fully aware that even though there are bad episodes of Buffy, I would still prefer to watch them over the best shows on TV. So don't take anything as a knock against the show in general. You've been warned.

2nd Note: 2-parters with the same name like "Graduation Day", "Becoming" and "What's My Line" will be posted as one episode, so instead of 144 episodes, it's 138.

#138 - Some Assembly Required
[episode 2.2]

Ok. Daryl Epps isn't quite alive, but is. He's sort of a zombie, and sort of not. He was brought back to life and reconstructed by his younger brother and some creepy kid. Then there's this whole obsession with Cordelia, and it's all very bad. Not to mention Angel's wearing a white jacket. Who's idea was that? Bad.

#137 - I Robot, You Jane
[episode 1.8]

Malcolm....Moloch. Either way, not a great date for Willow. He's in the internet...like...physically. That makes perfect sense, right? And hey, how about that tremendous continuity with Buffy's wrong age on the screen? Me thinks someone wasn't trying this week.

#136 - Doublemeat Palace
[episode 6.12]

Doublemeat is double sweet, but this episode makes me want to gouge my eyes out. It didn't rhyme, oh well. We get the penis-headed old lady, and the nasty 'behind-the-scenes of a burger joint' nausea too! What a leathal combination!

#135 - Reptile Boy
[episode 2.5]

I dislike this episode for several reasons. I hate frat boys, and I REALLY despise "smack you over the head" metaphors (as you can see by reading the Angel episode countdown). This is another trip into metaphor hell, as we see Buffy and Cordelia chained to the wall in the basement of a frat house, as several college boys pray to their big snake to eat the girls. Must I go into anymore detail?

#134 - Listening To Fear
[episode 5.9]

The queller demon is gross with his oozing flem, and his scurring and what-not. Plus, this was a rather boring episode. The one scene that made it even worse for me was when Willow and Tara just HAPPENED to be on the roof the moment the queller came down to earth. WHAT A COINCIDENCE!

beckymedunic: buffy willow giles Joyce tara - DARLA AHGEL HEllmoutn Dawn summers

Ben: Listening to fear had that super moment with Kristine ranting at the ceiling, and Buffy and Dawn breaking down!!
(19.05.2005, 11:50)

random: Hey, some of those episodes are good... and reptile boy also has the line "You're gonna live forever, you don't have time for a cup of coffee??"... - The worst are probably the first episodes of season four... those were terrible.. Mostly because they don't have Spike, Cordelia or Anya... that said, neither did conversations with dead people...

UnpluggedCrazy: Thank God someone else agrees with me about Listening to Fear. That is by far my least favorite episode of the series.

Cole: I strongly disagree about your thoughts on Doublemeat Palace. It fully captured the feeling of working a fast food job...and the scene where Buffy is introduced to the grill is utterly brilliant. The penis creature at the end was, I agree, a bit much...but from my experience, after awhile it does start to feel like the customers are eating you alive. I would put this fine episode among the top 40. Hilarious and well written.

Lurker: I, Robot is for me the least episode - but I love all the Angel and Buffy episodes - Reptile Boy Rulezz but they all do - Listening to fear is even one of my favorites of season 5
(30.03.2005, 07:55)

fanofangel: The only reason I tolerated Reptile Boy is for my favorite line, in the cemetary B/A talk....Buffy says when you kiss me I want to die....that line is worth watching the episode over and over.

vampira: where is smashed and especially wrecked?? what about where the wild things are??? THOSE REALLY SUCK
(25.01.2005, 05:05)

Nisrine: where are the updates??? i want more of the countdown! PLZ!!!
(24.01.2005, 09:18)

Nisrine: i fully agree with doublemeat palace but i think episodes from middle season 6 like as you were or gone were worst than eps from season 2 which is my favourite season of buffy
