May 26, Sharpsville. Desmond Kane, the town pastor, writes in his journal about an upcoming Ascension. The next day the town disappeared. The journal survived.

Liam is born in Ireland.

1753
Galway, Ireland. Liam, a 26 year-old slacker, is noticed by Darla at a Pub as he’s brawling with the locals. He’s magnificent in her eyes.
Liam can no longer tolerate living with his father, he can never measure up. He leaves in a heated argument. That night, Liam gets drunk and rowdy at the Pub and is kicked out. He notices Darla and offers his services as an escort, she tantalizes him with an offer to show him the world and he agrees. She takes him that night, making sure he feeds on her too.
Liam is buried the next day, Liam’s mother and sister weep, but his father is stoic, watching his son’s burial until everyone else is gone. When darkness falls, Darla steps out of the trees and waits for Liam to rise. Upon emerging, Liam is enthralled with his new life. When the caretaker comes upon them, Liam kills him, finding clarity. Darla tells him he can have anything he desires, and Liam desires revenge. He kills everyone in the village, giving people time to be scared and then goes home. He is let in by his sister, thinking he came back to her an angel. He feeds on them both before confronting his father: he has made something of himself. He vamps out and kills his father.
When Darla comes in, Liam is sitting among the dead, his revenge complete. But Liam still has much to learn: his victory over his father took but a moment, but his defeat of Liam will last a life time. They still have the feelings of their previous life, simple death won’t change that.

Daniel Holtz gains a reputation as a proficient Vampire Hunter.

1760
London, England. Darla brings Angelus to meet the Master of the Order of Aurelius, her sire, who’s living in the sewers. Darla is proud of Angelus but he isn't too impressed with the Master, considering he and his followers live in the sewers, shunning humanity completely. While the Master champions his plan to destroy humanity, Angelus continues to show disrespect, insulting the Master's looks and lounging in the Master's chair. And he hopes never to look like the Master. Tired of Angelus' disrespectful attitude, the Master beats him up. Angelus takes the punches, not fighting back, all the while promising to be with Darla forever, promising her everything. Darla looks lovingly at Angelus. The Master is positive that she will choose him because he sired her, until he feels Darla's sweet smile directed at Angelus. She helps him up and they leave the sewers. One of the Master's minions tries to stop them, but the Master lets them go, they won’t last more than a century.

1764
York, England. Holtz, Vampire Hunter is sent out on a wild goose chase for Angelus and Darla while they are at his home. Holtz discovers the ruse, quickly rides to his home to find Angelus and Darla gone, his wife and youngest one dead. What’s worse, his daughter has been turned into a vampire, though she still has her child-like innocence. He waits until morning to bring her outside and kills her with broad daylight.

1765
France. Holtz tracks down Angelus and Darla after they stay in the best hotels in the area and eat the help. They are chased by a lynch mob led by Holtz. Angelus and Darla, on a single tired horse, hide in a barn. Angel keeps a careful lookout but Darla reassures him they lost mob back in the village of Arles. Darla tries to make the “best” of things but the mob has found them, setting fire to the barn. Angelus offers a plan to flee to the hills, but she knows they can’t make it on foot before sunrise and the horse is too tired to carry them both. Angelus is ready to die fighting, a glorious end, but Darla isn't. She punches him and as he falls mounts the horse. She hopes he survives and offers that maybe they’ll meet again in Vienna, as she rides off leaving Angelus to fend for himself. Angelus survives and catches up with Darla in Vienna where he makes her pay for her sins, again and again.

1767
Marseilles, France. Two vampire couples, Darla & Angelus and James & Elizabeth have fed off Count DeLeon, taken his money and burned down his villa. The money will be used to run. Angelus is not happy about James and Elizabeth burning the Count's villa, as this will surely alert Holtz to their location. Darla and Angelus recount Holtz's attempt on their lives two years ago. Elizabeth spots a beautiful antique heart locket in a store window, but the store is closed and James breaks the glass to get it for her. She promises to never take it off. This draws the attention of the constabulary, so Darla and Elizabeth run to the docks, while Angelus and James stand their ground. Holtz rides in with his entourage and demands to know Darla's location. Angelus offers not only Darla, but Elizabeth and James, which infuriates James, and he attacks Angelus. They use the scuffle as an opportunity to ride off on a horse, but not before Angelus is skewered with crossbow arrows, luckily in all the wrong places. In an alley James leaves Angelus to warn Elizabeth. He is disgusted by Angelus’s utter lack of concern for his love.

1771
Holtz chases Angelus and Darla in North Africa but loses them. He stakes out key cities in Europe, knowing their tastes will bring them back there.

Rome, Italy. Darla and Angelus visit the Sistine chapel (Darla loves Botticelli’s frescoes) but, Angelus is captured by Holtz and some excommunicated monks. Holtz is out for revenge for the death of his family at Darla and Angelus's hand. Holtz wants Angelus to suffer and pay for his sins. Angelus is tortured for several days until Darla rides in broad daylight, in a blanket covered wagon with vampire minions. They slaughter the monks but she keeps Holtz alive; she considers him part of their family and finds it fun to torture him. They escape.

England. Matthias Pavayne, an aristocrat and doctor get a reputation for performing unnecessary surgery on his patients, and is nicknamed “The Reaper.” Word spreads of his practices, and he flees to Spanish California, which coincides with a rash of ritualistic murders, placed in a manner suggesting an intimate knowledge of the Dark Arts. The slaughter will continue for twenty years.

1773
York, England. Holtz, having failed to kill Angelus, is approached by Sahjhan. He’ll help Holtz kill Angelus and Darla by taking him to the future. In exchange for taking Holtz to the 21st century, Sahjhan demands that Holtz show the vampires no mercy the time comes.

1789
Prussia. Angelus, alone, takes a shortcut on his way to Vienna, feeling watched. He is there mostly to feed on the Prussian girls. He arrives at a field of bodies, with no military precision to the slaughter, and no blood to drink. He follows the trail to the Beast; the Beast has been watching him and staged the carnage to impress Angelus. The Beast sought him out because he had trouble with the Svear Priestesses (descendants of Nordic Priestess Svea), who had plans to banish him. The Beast couldn’t touch them, but a vampire could. The Beast asked him to join forces, temporarily at least. Angelus declines, and is knocked out. Before he passes out he sees that the priestesses had caught up with the Beast and are banishing him from this dimension. In the centuries to come, Jasmine would eradicate all knowledge of this event, except for Angelus, who was not present in this dimension.

1791
El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles. The Senior Partners search for a site for their new Los Angeles office. The seers recommend a site, however a Spanish Mission rests on it. They seek out and capture Matthias Pavayne, mass murderer, and with his blood, deconsecrate the ground. While dead, Pavayne escapes the maw of hell with his knowledge of the Dark Arts, and feeds it other souls.

1799
Angelus sires Penn, a Puritan. Angelus teaches him in the art of the kill, and Penn proceeds to kill his entire family. Penn and Angelus agree to meet in Italy, but Angelus is held up in Romania, chasing Gypsies. Penn waits in Italy until the 19th Century.
