The Demon Age - Millions of years ago
Pure demons, masters of the Earth, are in a constant state of war, always killing each other. Turok Hans (proto-vampires), The Wolf, Ram and Hart are among the lowest species. Illyria, a great demon warrior and monarch, rises to power. Feared and loved, she is murdered by rivals. Illyria and her Army of Doom are buried at Vahla Ha'Nesh, her temple that is out of phase with our time. Her spirit however, is cast aside in the Deeper Well, a burial place for the Old Ones. Although not quite dead, she and her acolytes plan for the day she will return a rule the demon world, be resurrected along with her army. Her acolytes, although dwindling, will pass on the knowledge of her existence, continuing into the age of humans.

Dawn of the Human Age
Ethros demons start corrupting the spirit of men, before they even had speech to name them.

As the demons retreat from this realm, one of the last remaining feeds off a human. Blood is mixed and what was a human becomes possessed, infected by the demon's soul. He bit another, and another, and so they walk the Earth, feeding. Killing some, mixing their blood with others to make more of their kind. These are the first vampires.

Africa. The Shadow Men, a council of elders, fearful of the demons and the new vampires wandering the Earth, imbue a young girl with enormous dark powers and strength, in order to combat it. This is the creation of the first slayer, and the Watcher’s Council that would be behind her.

The Guardians, who watch the Shadow Men without their knowledge, witness this even and forge in secrecy the Scythe of the Slayer: a powerful weapon. It is used at the Hellmouth (at the future location of Sunnydale), where it slays the last remaining pure demon. One Guardian is left behind at the Hellmouth, where she hides for as long as it is necessary, keeping the Scythe hidden from the eyes of men and demons.

Africa, some time after the creation of the first Slayer. Buffy (of 2003 A.D.) uses an ancient box, found in Nikki Wood's Slayer Emergency Kit, and travels back to this point in time. She meets the Shadow Men and they chain her, intent on giving her the power she needs to fight the evil, as they did with the First Slayer. She breaks her bonds, and destroys the staff. That wasn't what she came for. They show her a vision, that her power won't be enough to fight the First's army.

The Ra-tet, a mystical order linked to an embodiment of the god Ra is formed. There are five powerful totems representing a stage in Ra’s journey across the sky: Ma’at, Ashet, Mesektet, Semkhet, and Manjet. The last totem is man, who is the sacred guardian of the Shen, keeper of the Orb of Ma’at and devotee of light. Only the totems themselves know their true purpose.

The prophecies of Aberjian are written, and will continue to be written, in both human and demon tongue, until they are lost.

Egypt. Sobek, a reptile demon, has a cult formed around him. A Temple will be built in his honour and Thul, his high priest who has great mystical powers, forges an amulet with a transmogrifiying crystal (able to change one thing into another). The spell that completes the ritual however, is lost.

A Mok-tagar demon is born from Taparrich. She’ll annoy Buffy as her roommate Kathy much later.

950BCE
The Order of Teraka, a society of deadly assassins, human and demon, is formed in the Middle East, under the rule of King Solomon.

600BCE
Eyghon, the Sleepwalker, becomes known to the Etruscan people. Temporary induced possession was often used for bacchanals and orgies.
Willow said that the writing predates the Egyptians and that it was Etruscan, kind of an impossibility.

Disclaimer: All references are taken from the show, none from comic books, novels or the movie. As with all things, this is a work in progress. Some dates are conjecture but I&Mac226;ve put them where I feel is best. The Slayer origin date is based on a document presented at the Tampa Buffy Vulkon in 2003. I have not included the cup of perpetual torment, as I am very much uncertain whether there was a real cup at all (however the Columns Opera House is in here) Wesley and Giles&Mac226;s birth date are based on the actor&Mac226;s ages. Feel free to disagree with any of this, questions and comments are welcome.
