Pairing: Buffy/Faith

Summary: It's Christmas at the Summers.

"Faith, did you find the ornaments?"

"Yeah, B. I'm there." Faith called from the basement as Buffy continued to string tinsel on the 7-foot tree that they had bought and dragged in through the back door.

Faith had no idea why Christmas was such a big deal to Buffy, but she went with her girlfriend's passion. She made her way up the stairs with the large box of ornaments, lights and decorations.

Thank God for Slayer strength, she thought. This thing must weigh 50 friggin' pounds.

"So where d'ya want this monster?" she asked.

"Over there." The petite blonde answered, pointing back over her shoulder.

Putting the box down and giving a sigh of relief, she looked up at Xander who was standing on the fourth rung of a step ladder stringing lights intermittently around the Summers living room.

"Hey Xan...?"

"Yeah." He answered, not looking down from his task.

"I'll finish that for ya, if you go down to Walgreen's and pick up me and B's pictures. We got Christmas cards to mail tonight."

"Um sure." He shrugged, climbing down. "Are they under your name or Buffy's?"

"Neither." She answered flatly, her expression never changing. "They're under the name Funiman Nippleschitz."

Xander stared at her, his jaw dropping. Faith could only hold out for another second or so before she broke into a slight laugh. "I'm kidding Xan. They're under B's name."

Xander breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank merciful Minerva."

"Actually Minerva wasn't all that merciful." Willow said, entering the house with Oz trailing behind her. "If you've done your literature homework, that is."

"Hey now..." Xander said, his face dropping. "Ruining my witty moment here??"

"Aww...sorry Xan." The newly dabbling witch leaned forward and kissed his cheek, and his face noticeably brightened.

"Alright then. It is Christmas after all. Tis the season." The teenager said as he headed for the door.

Giles showed up a short time later, his arms full of presents. "Hello everyone." He said as Joyce opened the door.

"Mr Giles, I'm so glad you could come. Please come in. Dinner's almost ready."

"Er...Thank you Joyce." He said, taking her offer to help him with the load of festively wrapped boxes. Meeting her eyes briefly, he diverted his gaze quickly trying to divert the lingering chemistry between himself and his Slayer's mother.

"So what do we toast to?" Willow asked her circle of friends that were seated around the table.

Joyce thought a moment. "To friendships. Old and new." She gave Faith a slight smile and raised her glass.

Damn, Faith thought. That woman is so friggin' cool.

Everyone raised their glasses and drank. Of course those seated at the table that were under 21 had carbonated beverages, but they all toasted just the same. Then they dug into their food.

The spread was truly great. Buffy's mom was a great and enthusiastic cook, and they all took advantage of that fact. Eating and talking, enjoying the usual banter that is shared between close friends.

Finally, later that night after everyone had either left or retired to bed, the Slayers finally nestled themselves into the bed that they shared.

"Faith?" Buffy said

"What's up?"

"I'm really glad that my mom asked you to stay here, instead of that flea bag joint you were crashing in."

"Yeah well." Faith answered, positioning herself just so that she could be comfortable and have contact with her girl. "It makes our little 'thing' a little easier doesn't it? At least you don't have to sneak out the window at night."

Buffy smacked her on the arm playfully. "You know it's more than that!"

Faith laughed and then snuggled Buffy tighter. "I do know. Of course I know silly."

The dark haired Slayer leaned in and kissed Buffy lightly, once, twice. Then, deeply, her tongue exploring her girlfriend's mouth.

Suddenly Angel appeared in their room.

"Angel..." Buffy said, her mind unsure. She got out of bed and reached for the light switch.

Angel was standing just behind the door. His skin was pale; more pale than normal and it looked like he had been sweating profusely. He moved forward and placed a hand on each of her shoulders.

"Angel, what's wrong with you?" She asked, truly concerned about her former lover.

"I...I..."

The First Evil stood in the opposite corner of the room, once again assuming the guise of Jenny Calendar, unseen by anyone else.

"Go on," it said "Take her. End your suffering." Angel looked away from her and back at Buffy.

Faith rose from the bed and began to cross the room. "B...?"

"Faith please..." she said, holding up a hand. "Angel what's this all about?"

He shook his head, trying to weed out all of the things that had been poured into his mind, by the First, over the past few days.

"You have to stay away from me." He gasped. "Whatever you do. Just stay away."

"Wait a minute." Buffy said. "You came to see me, so that you could tell me to stay away from you?"

"You know it would be better this way." The First said, taunting Angel's tortured mind.

"Just leave me alone!" he shouted before springing out the window.

"Ok, I'll play guard dog. Gotcha. I'll look after your mom and sis." Faith said as Buffy left the house. She watched her girlfriend leave, gazing longingly after her.

She knew the connection that she and Angel shared, but knew it was best for Buffy go to help him. Faith had no idea how Buffy could help, but she closed the door quietly leaning back against it.

God B, she thought. Make your choice already. Me or him?

Just after dawn-

Buffy and Angel strolled the streets of Sunnydale, letting the small flakes of snow fall upon them. Their hands were slightly intertwined as they enjoyed the first snow that had ever fallen on Sunnydale.

"So you and Faith..." Angel began.

"Yeah?"

"How deep is it?"

They stopped, in the middle of the sidewalk. Buffy turned to look in his eyes. She waited a few seconds before she answered.

"Very."

The vampire with a soul looked down. "Do you love her?"

"I don't know." Buffy answered honestly. "But while you were gone, Faith and I got very...close."

Angel looked at her, noting her reactions to his question. "You do." He said solemnly.

"I..."

Angel put a finger to her lips and smiled slightly. "You love her. Go to her. She needs you more than I do at this point."

"But...what about you?"

They sat on a sidewalk bench.

"I'm fine." He said, looking up at the darkened sky and feeling each individual snowflake fall upon his face. "God...Mother Nature...The powers that be...whoever's in charge wants me to be here. And that's enough to make me happy for now."

He smiled and nudged her to go. Buffy kissed his cheek, stood and smiled down at him."

"Thanks for understanding." She said, reluctantly letting go of his hand and turning to walk home.

She occasionally looked back at him, who sat waving every now and then.

"Hey." Buffy said, quietly opening the door to her room. Faith sat upon the bed that they shared, cross-legged. From the looks of it, the brunette was playing Monopoly with herself. The board was spread out and money distributed between Faith and an imaginary player.

"You winning?" Buffy asked as she opened the top drawer to her nightstand.

"All depends on your point of view." Faith said solemnly.

Noting her tone of voice Buffy turned to her, after placing in 'Mr Pointy' and sliding the drawer closed. "You ok?"

"Depends on how you mean." The dark haired beauty said, still not looking up from her game.

Buffy moved to the bed and sat down. "Faith come on. You forget how well I know you. What is it?" She put her hand on Faith's and looked her in the eyes when she finally raised her head. There were slight tears in her eyes.

Buffy moved her hand up to cup Faith's cheek. "Faithy?"

The brunette took a deep breath and steadied her thoughts, thinking about how she should phrase her next statement. "If...If you want to go back to him, I'll understand. I...I can get my stuff. I'm sure the motel still has a vacancy."

Buffy looked at her, and her heart melted. She understood Faith's trepidation and doubt, but she loved this girl. "Oh Faith, no. I don't want you to leave."

Faith pulled away from her touch and looked down again. "You love him." She said.

"Yeah, I do." Buffy said matter-of-factly. "That's why I had to help him. Which I did. But he made me see something. Something important."

"What's that?" Faith asked, casually rolling the dice again.

Buffy stopped her, placing a hand under her chin and once again bringing Faith's face up. "That I love you more."

Faith's heart beat almost twice as fast as the blonde moved toward her, their lips meeting. "Oh God, B..." she gasped as Buffy pressed her body against her own, pushing her back onto the bed and spreading her legs with her own body. The Monopoly board went careening off the edge of the bed, small houses and bits of fake cash going everywhere.

The blonde pulled back, just long enough to say one word. "Convinced?"

"Noone's ever said that to me before." One of her tears trailed down the side of her head. Buffy reached up with one hand and wiped it away.

"You never have to cry again." The blonde said. "Not as long as I'm here."

She leaned in and kissed Faith again, their hands exploring each other as they had so many times before. They were still learning each other's sweetest places, but they had learned well so far.

Buffy's hands snaked up her lover's nightshirt, cupping the mounds of soft flesh that she found. She caressed Faith's flesh, their mouths never losing contact and their tongues finally finding each other.

Faith moaned into her partner's mouth, her heart soaring wildly. She had her. Buffy truly loved her! The dark Slayer's hips arched as Buffy's mouth went lower, caressing her collarbone.

"I love you right back, B..." Faith moaned, her hands gently intertwining in Buffy's hair and guiding her lower and lower to what Faith really needed.

The brunette moaned roughly as she felt Buffy's final kiss just above her shaven mound, and the blonde slid her tongue into her. Her desire was so powerful that she arched her back into the bed she and Buffy shared, desperately holding the blonde's face against her with one hand and clutching the sheets with her other.

The petite Slayer knew just what it took to bring her younger counterpart to her peak, but she was drawing this out. Occasionally she would lick just above or just below the brunette's center, bringing a small whimper of disappointment from her lover.

"Don't tease, baby..." the brunette let out, as Buffy complied with her request and sucked the center of desire into her mouth, strumming it with her tongue.

"Aaaaah Shit!" Faith grunted, gyrating her hips against Buffy's face while holding her head closely to her crotch. The orgasm ripped through her, sending her into a bodily performance of gyrations and stifled screams against her pillow.

Buffy slowly crawled up her body pressing her still clothed body into her lover. "I love you." She said, slowly disrobing and settling herself into her girlfriend's arms.

When the brunette finally caught her breath she spoke. "That's the greatest Christmas gift of all."

The End
