LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) -- Famke Janssen, who plays Jean Grey in the "X-Men" movies, says she hopes to reprise her role again this summer as the transformed Dark Phoenix, which she becomes at the end of "X2: X-Men United."
"I know they're working on the script for the third X-Men right now, and they're talking about starting in June or July this year," Janssen tells Zap2it.com this weekend during interviews for her upcoming film "Hide and Seek" with Robert DeNiro and Dakota Fanning.
It's not sure yet if Bryan Singer will be director again, and Janssen confirms that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" Joss Whedon is rumored to take over. "I've heard from pretty good sources that he may take it over, but I would miss Mr. Singer," Janssen says.
"I want to do it and I've cleared my schedule," says the actress. "I've heard that for others to come back they would have to have a big chunk of the movie, and that's always a bit tricky because they have to bring in more characters."
Halle Berry, for example, has said she wants a bigger role for her Storm character. But, Janssen says, "If anyone gets a bigger part it will be Wolverine, because he's the most favorite character."
Others in the cast, who include Patrick Stewart, Anna Paquin, Ian McKellen and Hugh Jackman, may have to renegotiate their contracts while others are already committed, Janssen says. And although her character could come back with a completely different look, she adds, "I would have a hard time giving up my character to anyone else."
