 | Save Point Pleasant After only 8 episodes, Point Pleasant was cancelled. Now the fight begins to save the show. |
FOX has cancelled Point Pleasant after only eight episodes and has no plans to bring back the show or release it on DVD. The two goals of this site are to get Point Pleasant released on DVD and to convince other networks it would be worthwhile to pick up this great show.
Although Point Pleasant's ratings did not meet FOX's high standards, their own foxnow.com reported promising numbers:
* #1 in its time period among Adults 18-34, out-performing ABC's Alias by +19%
* Also, #1 among Persons 12-34, Women 18-34 and Men 18-34
* Easily #1 with Teens, doubling the Share of 2nd place Alias (14 Share vs. 7)
* Highest debut among Adults 18-49 in three years (24's debut on 11/06/01)
With such a great beginning, it is a shame that FOX continued its tradition of canceling new shows. Point Pleasant was up against The Apprentice and CSI with very little advertising. It is hard to imagine a new show doing well against those two powerhouses. Point Pleasant was a great concept with a wonderful cast, and given a decent timeslot and some advertising it certainly would have done better.
