A fan report from New Star Con
Charisma Queen attended the New Star Con in the Netherlands and here's her report of the weekend and how it was meeting Anthony Stewart Head. |
 Saturday may 14th 2005
“The day I met Anthony Stewart Head!”
At 10 o clock the convention NewStarCon 3 started in hotel ‘De Duiventros’ in Berkel-Enschot. Anthony Stewart Head was one of the guests. At a quarter to 10 I stepped inside the building. The first thing I did, was walking around a bit, because I needed time to think of what I was going to say to him.
When I stood in the line to get a signature from Anthony, I started to get more nervous by the second. When it was my turn, I was really really really nervous! This was ‘Giles’ that stood before me! I told him that I had made a fanbook with all his Dutch fans in it, for him. And gave it to him. He said: ‘Wauw!’ and he looked throug the entire book. After that I showed him my Sunnydale High Yearbook and asked him if he would sign it. He asked me what my name was and I told him: ‘Nienke van Kasteel’. Becouse it’s such a typical Dutch name, Anthony started laughing. He asked me: ‘What? Haha, Is that really your name?’ And I explained to him that ‘Kasteel’ is Dutch for ‘Castle’. Well, he liked my name after all! Then he asked what ‘Hello’ in Dutch is and I said: ‘Hoi’ And that’s what he wrote next to his signature.
When he signed it, I gave him a hand and I thanked him for it. Anthony said: ‘No, thank you! Dankjewel!’ (‘Dankjewel’ is Dutch for ‘Thank you’). I really liked that! He thanked me in Dutch!! LOL
A little later was his Q & A. And I stood behind in the Q & A room with a couple of other fans, talking. When I suddenly saw Anthony walking by. He looked at us. Wich was really cool! When they announced the Q & A we could, luckily, found places on the second row! The first question was: ‘Can you sing to us?’ And Anthony got a little nervous from that question. He told me that he hadn’t prepared for this, but he promised that he would sing for us tomorrow. There were asked a lot of cool questions during the Q & A, and even more cooler answers! I also got the change to ask him a question. That was really cool, because I had written down 17! LOL. I asked him: ‘How do you feel about the fact that there are action figures made of you and do you have some?’ He told me that he thinks they are really cool. And he has some at home! Personally he likes ‘Fiësta Giles’ the best, because that figure has a chainsaw! He also told me that Seth Green made him an action figure once. And that is awesome to know! During the Q & A there was a woman with a baby. And that baby was making a lot of weird noises. So Anthony started copying the baby, that was so humorous!!!
The rest of the day, I looked around a lot and very often I walked by Anthony, just to look at him! Haha.
At the end of the day I went to him with a friend of mine, because he wanted to say goodbye. So my friend said: ‘Maybe I’ll see you next time!’ So then I said, without thinking: ‘Yes, see you next time!’ But then I remembered that I would see him the next day and said: ‘Oh no, I’ll see you tomorrow!’ And Anthony answered: ‘Good! See you tomorrow!’ And he put his thumps up to me!
I found that a really cool way to close the day!
 Sunday may 15th 2005
“The second day of NewStarCon 3!”
The first thing I had to do today, was taking a look at Anthony, off course! And I noticed that he was wearing an other shirt. Lol. That was totally something for me to notice!
I found the picture that I took in the fotoshoot from yesterday and I really really liked it. It was almost perfect; it just needed a signature to finish it. But I would have to think about it first, because it costs a lot of money.
Then came the Q & A. During this Q & A I again got the change to ask him a question and I asked: ‘If you had to choose between singing and acting, what would you choose?’ And he explained to me that he actually already had chosen for acting, but that he loved singing as well. What I really liked about Anthony was that he really answered the question to you. He actually looked you in the eye! At the end of the Q & A he sang 3 songs, just as he promised. The first song was from his album, I guess, but I’m not really sure. The second song he had written for his daughters. That song was really pretty, and I saw Anthony pinking away a tear. The third song was from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. That was really cool as well! You could see that he liked this song as well! He danced a little with it! And Anthony is a great singer!
After the Q & A I realized that I really wanted to get my picture signed by Anthony. So I went there waiting for him. When Anthony arrived, after a little while of waiting, my boyfriend saw him first and told me Anthony was coming. I got all exited and said: ‘Oh, oh!!’ Anthony heard that, saw me and said: ‘Oh, oh!!’ back to me! Lol, we laughed, It was really funny!
I went back to Anthony to let him sign my picture and he looked at me, than to the picture, and back to me. And I saw him thinking… Then he said: ‘No, I’m sorry, I can’t remember your name..’ and so I answered with: ‘Nienke van Kasteel’ and he said: ‘Oh, Yes, I remember!’ And he laughed again. He signed my picture and said to me, that he really liked it. I thanked him and went looking for some cool merchandising.
When it was 16.30, we actually wanted to go home. I was all out of money and I was tired. And we had a long drive ahead of us. But I wanted to thank and say goodbye to Anthony. So I walked towards him and said: ‘Hellow’ and he said ‘Hellow!’ Lol.
I said to him: ‘I just wanted to say goodbye.’ And we talked about how the weekend was. He asked me where I was headed and I told him: ‘Stadskanaal’ and he started laughing and said: ‘Oh, yes, off course!’ I thanked him for everything and he gave me a hand. Then I asked him: ‘I was wondering if I could give you a Hug.’ And he said: ‘Yes, Off course!!’ And he walked towards me and gave me a really big hug! The hug was real firm and his eyes were closed (which my boyfriend told me). It was really beautiful. I could feel that he really meant the hug! I thanked him again and Anthony said: ‘Thank you! And drive save!’
Off course you can understand that my weekend was SUPER!!!
