CBS Sneaks Past ABC to Take Monday
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Fast National ratings for Monday, Nov. 21, 2005
With "Monday Night Football" off some from its strong performances the past couple of weeks, CBS managed to score a narrow win over ABC Monday.
For the night, CBS averaged a 9.7 rating/15 share to finish just ahead of ABC's 9.4/14 (which may change some in final nationals, due to the live football telecast). NBC, 7.4/11, finished third, and FOX came in fourth with a 5.0/7. The WB averaged 3.0/4 and UPN 2.4/4.
ABC did claim the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 5.4 rating. CBS was second in the demographic with a 5.0, followed by NBC, 4.0, and FOX, 3.4. The WB's 1.6 edged UPN's 1.5 for fifth.
"Wife Swap" (or football, if you live out West) put ABC on top at 8 p.m. with an 8.2/12. "The King of Queens," 7.5/11, and "How I Met Your Mother," 6.9/10, gave CBS the No. 2 spot. "Surface" averaged 5.8/9 for NBC. The WB took fourth with "7th Heaven," whose 4.0/6 was slightly better than a "Prison Break" repeat on FOX. UPN trailed with "One on One" and "All of Us."
ABC held onto the lead at 9 p.m. with "Monday Night Football," 10.1/15. "Two and a Half Men" and "Out of Practice" kept CBS in second, while "Las Vegas" scored a 7.8/12 for NBC. A new "Prison Break" came in at 6.3/9 for FOX. "Girlfriends" and "Half & Half" averaged 2.5/4 for UPN, good enough to beat The WB's "Related."
At 10 p.m., CBS' "CSI: Miami" scored the night's best rating, 12.4/20. "Monday Night Football" slipped a little to 9.8/15, while the 3-D episode of NBC's "Medium" delivered an 8.7/14.
Alltogether a successful monday for Aly in "How I Met Your Mother", Sarah Thompson in "7th Heaven" and "Prison Break".
