Alyson Hannigan interview!
Kristin, from E online, talks with Alyson about 'How I Met Your Mother' and asks if she will ever return to the Buffyverse! Check out the transcript ... |
 Kristin: So you and Jason, you were engaged in the pilot.
Alyson: Yes
Kristin: And the thing I love about your relationship is that you’re one of the truly happy couples on television.
Alyson: I know.
Kristin: There hasn’t been any major drama, and yet, they still have managed to keep it interesting.
Alyson: Absolutely.
Kristin: Do you think that they’re gonna let you guys just be happy?
Alyson: I hope so. I mean, I think it’s really refreshing to have a good, romantic couple on television, and it’s based on one of the creators and his wife, who are just the most adorable couple you would ever wanna meet.
Kristin: And she was a Buffy fan.
Alyson: Yes! Yes. Basically I owe her the thanks for getting me this job.
Kristin: I’m sure she’s like ‘Omigod, Willow’s playing me! That’s the coolest thing!’
Alyson: Yah, I mean, that’s the most sincere form of flattery, so you know, like she OK’d me to play her, so yah. But it’s so nice to have a healthy relationship on television, which it’s surprising how rare that is. Like, I didn’t sort of realize that there aren’t that many good relationships on television until I was in one. And then it’s like I can’t count that many, cause it’s all about the drama and it’s all about, like, the getting together, and then once they’re together it’s like ‘Ok, well no, no. Now we have to break it up because it’s not as dramatic!’ So it’s really nice to be in a healthy relationship on TV. But with every relationship, I’m sure they’ll have their ups and downs, but they’re so perfect together.
Kristin: They are. Very cute.
Alyson: Yah. So, who knows what they have in store, but it’s fun to play.
Kristin: And I’m guessing there’s a wedding coming up sometime soon, right?
Alyson: Well, we keep addressing, you know, the planning and that is where they do have conflict in their relationship because they both want different things out of their wedding, so uh, so we’ll see. We’ll see what’s in store. There’s a ‘wedding dress trying on’ episode that has not aired yet, but that was fun.
Kristin: It’s always fun to try on wedding dresses, right? Any excuse!
Alyson: Yah, I guess.
Kristin: Even though you’ve already done that.
Alyson: I have. I’ve done it quite a lot. I’ve done more trying on wedding dresses for shows or movies than I have in my real life. Like, it was such a simple process [for me] that I think I have to now make up for [it]. ‘No, you have to experience trying on hundreds of wedding dresses if you wanna be married.’
Kristin: Sorry, it was too easy for you.
Alyson: Yah, yah.
Kristin: We need to make up for that.
Alyson: So I’m getting the payback.
Kristin: Is there anything you can tease to that’s coming up on the show?
 Alyson: Umm, more funny! Let’s see, you know, like I said, there’ll be sort of issues regarding the wedding planning. Um, Ted now has a girlfriend, which is interesting, and that adds some little feelings on the triangle front of the whole Robyn, Ted, now Victoria situation.
Kristin: Right. Do you know who the mother is?
Alyson: No, I still don’t.
Kristin: Do you think they know?
Alyson: No. No. Because, it’s based on Carter and Craig, and Carter’s not married yet, so until he finds his wife, we don’t know who the mother is.
Kristin: Oh interesting.
Alyson: (Looks into cam) So girls, please. If you really wanna know who the mother is, you have to marry Carter.
Kristin: Maybe I’ll run off and do that, cause he’s actually very cute and nice and I love him to death, so—
Alyson: Then you’ll get two scoops. You’ll get your husband and you’ll know who the mother is, and you can break it.
Kristin: It’s perfect.
Alyson: (Looks into cam) Done. Alright Carter, we married you off. Here’s the mom.
Kristin: So I was just talking to Amy Acker the other night.
Alyson: Awww
K: She just had dinner with Joss and she was saying the Spike movie still might happen.
Alyson: Oh!
Kristin: Would you ever consider going back to doing a Buffyverse thing again?
Alyson: You know, I don’t know. It’s just such a hard decision because it’s just such a perfect like ‘OK, I’m so glad that that chapter was part of my life and everything and I wouldn’t want to sort of revisit it and then mess it up, you know? And Joss is off, and he’s doin’ Wonder Woman and he’s not gonna be around. If it were Joss, I’d be like ‘Oh, come on, it’s Joss. It’s not gonna be messed up.’ But I don’t know who he’s got in mind and I know he would be protective of it, but I’m just, I don’t know, I’m too scared. Like, I don’t wanna be responsible for tarnishing the memory, but I think that they should definitely do the Spike movie. I think that’s a great way to start. But they talked about doing a trilogy thing, which I think is just, I don’t know. Start with the Spike movie. You know that’s gonna be good no matter who’s [in charge], you know? James is just awesome as that character, and so, I think that’s just a no brainer and they should definitely do that, but—
Kristin: Well I would want it to happen just so you and Alexis could be on screen together again but I guess there are other ways we can do that, right?
Alyson: Ohh! Can I give you that scoop?
Kristin: (Gasp) Tell me!
Alyson: He’s on our show!
Kristin: He is?!
Alyson: Yah.
 Kristin: Omigod, how cool!
Alyson: Yah. Kristin: That’s very cool. Who’s he playing? Can you tell us?
Alyson: I won’t tell you who he’s playing, but it is hysterically funny and they’ve actually-- He’s gonna be in the next episode. He was in the last one that we just shot and he’ll be in the next one we shoot.
Kristin: So he’s doing two episodes?
Alyson: At least. Yah.
Kristin: Wow! How fun! Was it great to work together again?
Alyson: Yah, he was hilarious. It’s such a funny part and I’m so excited. And just completely not something he would ever, you would ever peg him to be able to do, but he was hilarious.
Kristin: Was it hard to keep a straight face?
Alyson: Not for him. Well, I didn’t have to be on camera with him, so it was OK. I would’ve been cracking up. My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard when he was there. Yah, so, he’s hilarious. It’s gonna be very funny.
Kristin: Love it. Love it. That’s so funny because when I saw you on the Veronica Mars set, I said ‘You need to get him on your show.’
Alyson: I know. I know. And it wasn’t even my idea.
Kristin: Well, guess that worked out!
Alyson: Maybe they were listening to you.
Kristin: Maybe. Are you gonna go back on Veronica you think?
Alyson: I don’t know. I mean, they haven’t asked, but I adore that show, and you know.
Kristin: It’s so good this season.
Alyson: It is. It’s so good.
Kristin: You know, they were supposed to do a True Hollywood Story episode and I was gonna go on and be the one interviewing everyone and they couldn’t work it out unfortunately—
A: Oh no!
Kristin: And it killed me! [Rob Thomas] sent me the script and it was so genius.
Alyson: Oh man.
Kristin: But it was based on your character doing the Aaron Echolls movie and they were trying to cast people as the Veronica in the movie and the Aaron Echolls in the movie.
Alyson: That’s hilarious. Oh, that would’ve been fantastic!
Kristin: I hope it can happen sometime in the future, but yah.
