 | Randy Miller Interview ! But who is this man ?
|
Randy Miller is he director from the new Eliza Dushku movie.
CS: The domino school of destiny…
Miller: Yeah, you may happen to say a nice thing to someone on the street, but it can also be about how if you go take this path you could set off a chain of events that could help every one else. Is Goodman an angel? Is this his payback, consciously or unconsciously? We're sort of saying that.
CS: For 40 years Steve has believed that his childhood sweetheart would remember and honor a rendezvous. Is ignorance bliss?
Miller: I think it was the one pure moment in his life. He felt like that was the place after which his life changed. He wasn't the sweet young boy turned into a sweet man. He was something else. And he remembered that moment. Everybody, criminal or not, had a moment. You don't start out life with mars against your record
CS: What was the process of co-writing with your wife?
Miller: We've written together for years. We've done lots of studio movies and things. We tend to argue a lot so we go to coffee shops and the most public places so we'll have these arguments under our breath. We're not going to yell in public. The rule of our writing is that you're not allowed to rewrite the other's draft. You have to go forward. You can't put something back in that the other one took out. You can't put your ego on the page, you have to work together. We know each other so well. We're both going for the same goal.
CS: Did the time jumps slow the writing process?
Miller: We wrote the script within a month together. We were passionate about the concept. Once we decided to make it we mortgaged the house, with two kids.
CS: How did you bring on so many A-List actors?
Miller: It's a testament to the fact that if you have good material the actors will come. We went to Robert Carlyle first. Other people came aboard because of him. We started getting calls from other agents. A movie becomes a cool project that people want to be a part of. Agents are heat-seeking missiles and sensed it was going to be a good thing.
