 | Glenn Quinn's 36th Birthday Today would've been Glenn Quinn's 36th Birthday. Therefore we have a little special for you. |
Today (Mai 28th, 2006) would have been the 36th birthday of Glenn Quinn. He died from an overdose, December the 3rd 2002 at a friend's house.
Most of us know him as "Allen Francis Doyle" - a half-demon, he portrayed on "Angel". Laborrate prepared some facts, a vid and information on occasion of his birthday.
In remembrance of Glenn Quinn.
Life
Glenn Quinn was born in Dublin, Ireland 28th May 1970. He grew up in Cabinteely, a village near Dublin.
When Glenn was 18 he moved to the US with his mother and his two sisters Louisa and Sonya. In 1990 he had his first televison role.
He had a major role in the John Travolta film Shout (1991), where he shared a screen kiss with Gwyneth Paltrow, and went on to have roles in a number of other movies and television series. Starting 1990 he became a part of the show "Roseanne" as "Mark Healy". This character was intended to be a one-episode guest appearance, but in ended in over seventy episodes.
Since 1999 he appeared in "Angel", a spinoff of the hitshow "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Even though he just took part in the first half of the first season of "Angel" a lot of fans loved Glenn Quinn right from the spot.
Though allowed to use his native Irish accent in the show "Angel" for the first time in his career, it was so thick that he had to occasionally "Americanize" it so you could understand what he was saying. This sometimes made it sound as if his accent was fading in and out.
Facts
- Height: 1,78m (5' 10")
- Two Tattoos: On right shoulder "Erin Go Bragh" (Ireland Forever) and on the left one a harp
- Co-owner of the "Goldfingers", a James Bond themed nightclub in Hollywood
- Favourite Band: U2
- Liked hiking, soccer, motor sports and playing the drums and guitar.
Quotes

"When you get to speak Irish, you become more at one with yourself, you kind of have a spark when you use it, and I think it's a great dialect. When they first cast me, I was a pretty avid fan of vampire movies and Celtic mythology, so I was excited to get a chance to walk in Doyle's shoes and have fun with it."
"I'm into doing my own stunts. I learned [how to] years ago when I was doing a show for American TV called Covington Cross. I had a lot of fighting and rough stuff in that and I always want to do my own stunts -- it just looks a lot better. We've got really good stunt guys on the show and they teach us all this stuff. The other night I had to put on a back brace and pads and everything -- I want to participate and they're letting me, so it's pretty cool."
After his death
He was good friends with David Boreanez and Christian Kane of "Angel". Both recalled on the Season 5 DVD commentary how hard and emotional it has been for them to use the name Doyle for Christian's character and how much they missed him.
The 4x09 "Angel" episode called "A Long Day's Journey" was dedicated to Glenn Quinn.
There's also a comicbook called "Spotlight: Doyle" about the character "Allen Francis Doyle", which was played by him on "Angel".
