Review of Little Britain!

Check out the DVD review of Little Britain, which features Anthony Head!
How much you enjoy "Little Britain" depends in large measure on how high a tolerance you have for men dressed up as (occasionally morbidly obese) women. If that's your thing, then the show's latest DVD collection should be right up your alley.

As with most sketch comedy, "Little Britain," which stars David Walliams and Matt Lucas, can be hit and miss. Walliams' sketches as Sebastian, the foppish aide to the Prime Minister ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" Anthony Stewart Head), are reliable, as are sketches with the wheelchair-bound Andy and his caretaker, Lou. And you can't help but laugh -- uncomfortably, maybe -- at the outrageousness of the "bitty" sketches.

And the great thing about DVDs, of course, is that you can skip the bits you don't like (for me, that would be most things involving Bubbles and Carol the bank employee).

Extras are plentiful and include commentary on each episode from Walliams, Lucas and producer Geoff Posner. A 40-minute making-of documentary is maybe a bit too long, but it offers some nice candid moments with the two leads, Lucas' mum and Head, and some rather amusing man-on-the-street bits as well.

The bonus materials also include sketches the duo did for Comic Relief 2005, with the likes of Sir Elton John and George Michael guest-starring (it also has a commentary track), along with the usual deleted scenes and interviews with Lucas and Walliams.
