absolutely LOVED this story! i love all the historical aspects that you brought in as well. It made for a very intriguing read. I also really enjoyed the character interactions and relationships that you made. it was interesting seeing how they all related to one another. it was a little weird with a couple characters being used twice, but overall i understand and liked the decision. it's clearly a well planned and thought out story, and it's been a long time since I've come across a long fic this well written. it was refreshing. again, wonderful story, loved it! :D

This story was absolutely astounding. I have been completely captivated. As someone with a scandinavian background, I found it particularly interesting to learn bits about the time and places. I was married in Norway and went to school in Sweden and can picture many of the places you described. I had to look up bits and peices of the nomenclature as the story went a long and I thought that made it all the more interesting. What a deep and rich tapestry you have created here. This was one of the most unique stories I have read using the well know Spuffy characters - fantastic job. I thought it was funny when you sent crazy Maggie to live with relatives in Vastergotland because the is where my family was originally from! Thanks for this wonderful story. I'd love to read more - from this story or another and I hope you will continue to be inspired.

I think that this was one of the most well written and entertaining sagas I've had the privilege to read. You've really hit all the marks of the adventure and the descriptions of home life and lifestyle were incredibly visual. A lovely read. Thanks for your wonderful efforts!

Title: chapter 58, Epilogue
This chapter wrapped up this emotional, entertaining story beautifully. Buffy's tentative invitation to Anne was charming, and I love that Anne will be starting a new life with the Norse. She and Giles are going to be pleasantly surprised by the warmth and hospitality of this hall.
William reliving his last journey was understandable. The circumstances are completely different now, but last time he was hurt and frightened, trying to protect women from the heathens he has now befriended. It's no wonder the memories still itch under the surface.
You did an excellent job weaving Willam and Buffy into the intricate lives of these two societies. It made for a vivid, entertaining read.

William's reaction to the birth did mirror Connor's, and it was both amusing and understandable. I love that Buffy asked Connor to make the sacrifice to her gods. Even in the throes of childbirth, she thinks of the weight of William's faith. The couple being blessed by twins was a welcome surprise.

There was a lot of hustle and bustle in this chapter, and I really enjoy the details of the day to day work it takes to run their estate. There's a constant hum of activity and it's a pleasure to read.
The picture you painted of the market was also detailed and entertaining, and Buffy's surprise was lovely. Having Tara there for the birth of their second child will be a balm to both her and William. I'm left remembering Connor's reaction to Buffy's last birth, so I 'm looking forward to reading William's.

William taking matters into his own hands and turning Col out was the right thing to do. He was a threat to the hall. he brought the exile on himself. His end means William and Buffy won't have to be wary of revenge.

The fire and rescue were vivid and exciting, Buffy being drugged added even more tension. Buffy joking about Faith's comment bodes well for a full recovery, and learning she's pregnant was certainly a bright note in the chapter.
The hall will be well rid of the malevolent Col.

Title: chapter 52
After the lightness of the last chapter, the drama of their missing daughter ramped up the tension admirably. Andrew may be simple, but he did an admirable job consoling the little girl and getting her back to the fold. William and Buffy acted like any young parents. Their terror was understandable in light of all the dangers a small child could get into. I don't think little Nordlys is going to be out of eyeshot for quite a while.

Col was the only dark spot in this otherwise light and entertaining chapter. His jealousy and hatred of the happy couple was ominous, but you deftly dealt with him in the correct manner of the time.

The hall may be a wreck, but Buffy is certainly no stranger to hard work. The lack of privacy would be wearing in our culture, but here it's the norm and you make it feel natural to have people listening in and commenting on their lovemaking. Insults are a completely different matter, and I'll bet Col will be dealt with quickly.

Other than waking up alone, this was the perfect morning after. Buffy and William united as a family, working toward a common goal. Buffy is an astute business woman and William is no slouch. They both know what needs to be done to get his hall running profitably. Anne will enjoy being with this family after the horror of the other.
William cuddling Nordlys as she gnawed at that horse painted a charming picture. He's taken to fatherhood like a duck to water.

The final bit of the ceremony, with the fertility hammer and the undressing, was lovely, and even with the witnesses you created a deep intimacy in their first lovemaking as man and wife.

The two weddings were as markedly different as these two societies. The first was almost a business transaction, the second felt more like an exchange of heart felt vows. They were each vividly written, and I love the zeal and humor of these Norse. The women having to be stopped for their weapons was hysterical, as was Connor's broad and bawdy translation of the latin texts.
Author's Response: that was exactly what i was trying to show..and Connor's bit was so much fun to write...when i went into church in viking kit i have my weapons removed..that bit was taken from near life:)
