Author's Response: Aw, sorry to say you're about two years too late with this one! This fic is one of my first and I got a little over ambitious. I'm known for writing short fiction now. I love episode stealers, so you can take it as a "what if" divergence from canon had Spike made different choices when it came to his relationship with Buffy.

Ok I could have sworn I had reviewed this before but apparently not!
I absolutely love this fic - you capture the raw emotions beautifully and heart wrenchingly. Also, I've always wondered why more people didn't write about a spanking scene with that spatula - it just screams at you when you watch the ep - always just wanted him to grab it off her and turn her over the sink!
Anyhoo - I notice that you've marked this as complete adn I wondered if there was any chance you still planned to write more chapters as you had been planning when you poste a year ago? I'd love to read more of this.

Author's Response: Oh, this one. My early Spuffy work. Good times. I always liked the way this one came out. I'm glad you enjoyed it too. It's a heartbreaker. Originally I wanted to try and make this a multi-chapter fic, but that's just not what I do. I was over ambitious and soon realized that this was going to remain a one shot. I'm sorry to say that there will not be any more of this. I just don't have it in me to do a Season 6 re-write. I also don't write Spuffy very often at this point, so to commit myself to something that doesn't hold my interest like it used to would be like pulling teeth. If you want to see more of my Spuffy, you can go to my LJ. I have a few pieces there that are not up on this site because of word count limitations. Thanks for coming back to take a look at this after all this time.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for your kind words, saradane. I'm glad you enjoyed it. This particular fic is going to remain a one-shot for the time being while I work on a few other projects, but I will return to it. I'd like to have a few chapters under my belt before I start posting again. Hopefully, that will be in the next few weeks. Thanks for reading!

Author's Response: Yes, things do need to change. And they will in the next chapter when they face the social worker. Sometimes Spike just doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut ;) Thanks for the feedback!

That sums it good: He punished himself by loving her; she punished herself by denying him. Dark story, well written. Looking forward to read the whole story... (hopefully with a happy ending).
Author's Response: Thanks for the comments, cordy. The next part might not be for a few weeks cause of RL and I'm working on two other stories. But there will be more. Next chapter will be a re-write of the social worker scene .I can't really promise a "happy" ending, but things definately will get much, much better. It's always baby steps with these two.

Oooh this is very hot and sexy! The plot is not new but the way you wrote it made it seem fresh and interesting! You certainly know how to keep the reader glued to your story with the very spuffy love scenes!
I cant wait for the next juicy chapter!
Author's Response: I'm glad you found my take on the kitchen scene to be unique. It actually just started as me wanting to write Spike spanking Buffy with the spatula ;) I'm glad you're settling down for the long haul. The next chapter will be more plot-driven.

WOWW this is really really good. i hope buffy doesn't continue being a bitch tho LOL. but i guess im expecting more angst- can't wait for more; you're amazing!
Author's Response: Thank you for the kind words, janice. I love your enthusiasm. There will be more angst, but the next chapter should be a little lighter. Gotta spread the gloom and doom out a bit, you know?
I'm also going to try and dispell that Buffy was just simply being a bitch here. Her problems go much deeper than just carelessly hurting him. She's very damaged herself and is going to have to work through it in this story to come out healthier on the other end.
