I love the suggestion in between the lines that buffy possibly ends up with both of them.
Without spike in the present, the pendant will pass to angel who will take spikes place saving the world by closing the Hellmouth, and probably live because of the information provided in the folder. Because of his sacrifice, he would be the one present buffy falls In love with.
It is absolutely genius and satisfys so many internal conflicts. I've suffered emotionally and physically throughout the seasons with the spike/angel/buffy love because I've wanted both couples to work out!
We know future buffy ends up with past spike, but that area of text suggests past buffy will be with angel.
Loved it, so perfect. I finally feel at rest now with the way season 7 ended knowing this story.
Author's Response: I’m so glad you liked Pinch Hitter. Thank you! The trouble is that therefore maybe you shouldn’t read the sequel, Revenant. Because that’s where I have future Spike returning to meet present Buffy. So in the end she ends up with Spike in both dimensions. Sorry! :D

Another good chapter! Just one thing that was slightly iffy - she's really angry. I understand that she's angry, especially with her experience, but I hope she grows to forgive them! Or...even better, everyone won't make the same mistakes as their other selves did.

i absolutely luv your stories! im a little curious as to how buffy's future will go now as there is no longer spike in her world which a little sad, but then again i guess it's a good thing that at least this spike didn't have to go through all the angst this time. i can't wait to read the sequel!

I just read this whole story and I loved it! Excellent, funny and so sweet. I loved that older Buffy and Spike are gonna be together. YAY!
And I've seen some of your author responses and you're doing a sequel? Squeee!!! It is gonna have Spike right? Cause just Buffy will be kinda dull. :) I trust it'll be awesome!

I loved the story. Happy that Buffy got to have Spike with her. I do feel bad for the other Spike though. The one that is dead, dead. He got a soul for her and died for her. Yet, another Spike gets to share his life with her. Also, feel a little sad for the other Buffy. She loses out on ever really getting to know Spike. I know she will never know what a great guy Spike can be. But she is missing out and she doesn't even know it. Which makes me feel sad in a way for her. I liked that Buffy at got to tell her friends off. I always love it when stories have Buffy tell her friends off. I'm glad that it had a happy though. Great story and thanks for sharing with us.

I loved how you developed Spike as a chip free vampire without the constraints of being in love with Buffy. I also enjoyed Buffy's mature attitude towards 'the grey' and how she continued to protect what was hers. A really enjoyable read.

I can't help thinking that Spike is dead and Buffy is happily living with a different one.
Author's Response: I know. Spike is Spike - it's still Spike even if it's Spike of another dimension. The Spike of her dimension really is dead, having died twice. I usually write stories where things change earlier, so that he never dies at all. But there couldn't be two Spikes in this story, so I had to let him stay dead there. I'm sorry about that, but I hope you liked the story anyway.
