Oh, dear.......that girl does love to torture herself. Not satisfied unless she's miserable. One of the things she and Angel shared in common, and made them a bad match. Whereas Spike is almost ever the eternal optimist.

Yippeeee! You're back with this fave of fave stories and with a chapter of Spuffy in its purest form and, as such, charming. He most definitely 'sees' her and it is so great to have a Buffy that, for all her youthful naivete can still 'see' Spike for all that he is, not just what he is.

Awesome update. Very smart of Buffy to want to be just friends until things settle down a bit in her head. Now the question is, can they be close without actually touching each other? Outstanding developments. You have Buffy's teenage angst confusion down pat as is Spike's insecurity and devotion. Can't wait for the reality of sharing a flat to occur to Buffy, how on earth is she going to be able to resist him? And what about his feeding? Is Spike going to go 'vegetarian' for her? Can't quite picture Buffy working in a library though... LOL Love Fred and Gunn, looking forward to more 'Slaying' confrontations with Gunn's gang.
Do we get a 'meanwhile back at the ranch' scene? If you're following canon we know Giles is looking for her, and that her mother is frantic. Is she going to get her papers somehow? So many questions... update soon please so I can get some answers!

Worth having indeed. So glad they actually talked, with full words and concepts minus the irrational and sometimes rational accusations. At least it will keep them on the level for a while. Really think she's underestimated the whole hormone part of their living together. Can't wait for that to hit. Great chapter. Please, udpate soon.

It started so well for Spike, going to Buffy. She even apologized. But then Buffy said she wasn't ready. Must be like a bucket of cold water over his head.
But then Buffy gave him hope (the famous crumb so to say). Things should get interesting; I don't think it will be easy at first.

Nary a kiss nor a cuddle, but these two have come on leaps and bounds; she talked, he listened. She asked, he complied. Simple. Well, no it's going to be far from simple, but the mere fact that they have managed this holding pattern, got there without too much explanation and absolutely no argument shows how much each wants - what they both want. Your faltering, very Buffyesque dialogue and Spike's thoughts give us a clear sight and feel of their ongoing dance: still electric and still very, very much on.
Great chapter.

Well, more like friends who date, cuz you know Spike's still going to try to court her. It's his nature. But talking about their likes and histories is good...sharing the childhood stuff, and tastes, and memories...
Buffy makes a valid point about only being 17. She's never even lived on her own before, let alone had an adult relationship. She and Angel's thing was still very high school. However twisted it might have gotten with Dru, Spike for all instances has been married before......he's the divorcee who's just picked up a child bride in Vegas. Different places in life.
