I saw this title again, and I remembered that I wanted to say Spike wanting to keep the hope alive regarding her parting Hellmouth statement is the best explanation of why Spike would stay away that I have ever seen. Much better that that given on Angel. In your story he is still selfish, but finnaly logical. Well done.

This was a great story, I liked your prestory refference to the Queen of Slayers, it seems like no one mentions that. I am glad to hear that it contains some of Joss's alternative ideas. Maybee we will see a real Buffy-Spike face to face in the comic book Season 8.

I loved this story!!!! It actually told about the relationship between Buffy/Immortal since Angel the tv series never did and that pissed me off. I'm a SPUFFY shipper all the way baby!!!! I wish you would add more Chapters.

Author's Response: Thanks. I thought it was left unexplained as well. That's why I wrote this story. It was my goal of clearing things out between them. I might add more chapters AFTER I complete all the work I'm doing now. Each one is different and special. Check it out if you are interested. Only 1 other is published and others are WIP.

I had the same thoughts about what Spike was thinking in Ats s5. as you did. The "But living in the hope you meant it, was better than to come back and hear you tell me you didn’t" really put those thoughts into words. As you said, this fic was about clearing things out, and that's what this story does: it's almost only explanations, it's good but not always realistic. Personally I think it would take more for Buffy to jump into Spike's arms. But you can always dream can't you?
Author's Response: I agree it maybe rushed. But there are certain POVs towards it. I mean Buffy was very reluctant towards her feelings for Spike. And she was accepting them in the end of Season 7. She may have doubted his feelings when she got to know he was alive. But those questions were answered. And I think anyone including Buffy will not be very reluctant when the person you thought was dead is back alive. And Buffy didn't throw herself as soon as she saw him. They had a conversation or maybe the first real conversation involving their emotions towards each other. And that was a new start for them. And I have to note that they didn't go into sex ASAP. They were waiting to deal with the others together. So I tried it to make it as much as realistic as possible. And this is my explanation.
