Not sure if you'll even see this, but just wanted to let you know that after all these years this story is still one of my favorites that I keep around for yearly re-reads. Hope all is well with you.

Title: Chapter Sixty-Three
Nooooo!!! Spike! Y-y-you... Even if you're sad... Don't go to angel for help!
That was amazingly good. I got tears in my eyes (and down my cheeks) when she left. I love this story, and... Buffy's so mean! Why does she have to leave him! If I were William (I'm a girl, but still...) I'd rather have her stake me. Well... If I were William I would want what he wants but still... The fanfic is amazing!

An amazingly well-written story with a great plot that kept me fascinated form the beginning to the end.
Thank you for writing this fic!

Title: Prologue/Chapter One
I just finished this story and honestly, am at a loss at what to say. This story in absolutely incredible. It is hands-down the best fan fiction from any fandom I have ever read. It is well-written, well researched, engaging and her character voices are spot-on. It's long, but well worth it. Do yourself a favor and read this story.

Title: Epilogue
Alright fine, I couldn't stop. There was a knot in my stomach for most of the last half of this, but it was just so well executed. I had to read on.
Plus hey, happy ending. I kind of wish you had ended on either Buffys last line or at the smile on Spikes face. Something about the last line didn't connect with me.
Excellent story overall though.

Title: Chapter Fifty-Four
I mean, I don't really get this chapter. I don't buy that the council would ever support Buffy. Giles is constantly saying how disappointed he is in her, It's making him feel manipulative rather than caring.
I get why Buffy would react like she did to the photos, anyone would. That was the part that made sense.
I think I am done here however, This story is well written but there is too little hope or fun to keep me going with this piece. It is simply bad, after bad, after bad.

You really do have the feel of the show during this time period down.
It is both a good thing and bad.

Aaarrrg, the job thing got me in the series too. Poor girl.
"You're my charge" Then act like it Giles!
Ok the shouting was accidental. It was a little left over TV show rage. Bunch of Asses, I had a really tough time liking the Xander Willow and Giles after season 5. Xander I kinda stopped liking after season 3.
They were just such an unlikable bunch after a while. If it hadn't have been for Spike Dawn Tara and kinda Harmony, I would have lost interest sometime during the fourth season.
Anya was kinda awesome too, but bitter season 7 Anya ruined her character for me.

Ahhhhh, there's the Spike I know. Doing the exact wrong thing.
You fixed it quick though so I'm guessing it's not the last big stupid thing he does.

Angel would never admit to a lie that easily. He most likely wouldn't admit anything he did here, but it was a great scene.
The part where he admitted to loving Darla, my heart broke a bit for Buffy. During that whole show she just so rarely caught a break.

You are doing such a great job with the characters and their voices, but man is this bleak.
I cannot believe Spike hasn't done something idiotic yet. I hope you are not doing the thing where Spike can do no wrong, fanfic usually looks at Spike through rose colored glasses and I hope you don't. I have faith in you though, you are going to pull this together. I really hope I can keep going long enough to enjoy it. Again, bleak.

You are good at the frustrating Jossverse stuff. Where no one says what they mean, and everyone assumes everything and jumps to the worst conclusions.
I feel like you need to intersperse so.e good here coming up because this is getting tough to read now. It's accurate, and like I said in character, but whew is it tough.
I really dug this line from the last chapter.
"she was struck by how bright it was, how ominously cheerful, like the smile of a friend who was about to stab her in the back. "
I forgot to mention it, but I liked it.

Holy hell!
That was just excellent. Harsh, so so harsh, but I think you had everyone in character there, Spike may have said something monumentally stupid during his talk with Buffy though. That probably would have happened. He tended to shoot himself in the foot a lot.
Even the Angel and Spike face off was dead on I thought. They both would have said those vile things to each other. Nearly pitch perfect.
The scene at the end most likely wouldn't have happened, but you never know. Spike and Dawn had a lot of time to bond, and unlike the show it wasn't ignored. Although, they really didn't see each other did they?
You know what, I love Spike and Dawn so I don't care. I am just gonna like that end scene anyway.

I get every reaction Buffy had here. As much as I can anyway. To me none of it rang false, and that made the entire chapter work so well.

I really dug the Spike and Dawn stuff. That's an easy way to get me. It killed me that they pretty much ended their little companionship after Season 5.
I think you do a really nice Job with Angel, but I really dislike his character. He was far too by turns creepy, and Romance Novel hero for me. I feel like he would fit right on in to the Twilight universe.

Title: Chapter Forty-Two
Great reintroduction scene.
The Spike interlude was also very affecting. Sad.
Dawn is just so easy to feel for. She is isolated by what she knows. What their group as a whole knows, she is protected at all times(with cause) but she is at the same time not really a part of that world. Or at least she is cut out of it. Things that other teens are out doing are going to be deemed to dangerous, and because she is aware of the dangers she also receives no real explanations, just orders.
I realize you want to get Angel involved in the story, but the Scoobies would never think of him. One, by this point as a group they are cocky enough to believe they'd never need help, and Two, well regardless of what happened in the show (Buffy' catatonia etc....) he was never called. So I guess it just feels unnatural.

Ok, I can not for the life of me figure out where you are going here. What's going to be different, what the same.
I honestly thought Spike was going to not remember her at all at this point. Flummoxed, that's the word.
Nothing to do but read on.

I don't know Joyces maiden name but maybe far back her family hailed from the Netherlands.

Title: Chapter Thirty-Seven
Hmmmm, despite earlier similarities this is a different Spike. Drusilla could never say no to Angelus, but this could be attributed as well to a slightly changed Spike. He was not so completely pathetic when he was turned, that could be it.
I'd guess Darla left Angelus at this point, got sick of his obsession with Spike and Dru? If I remember rightly, she left him often.
The subdued or second hand carnage isn't nearly as fun, but hearing Spikes view on it all is giving me some more good insight into this version of him. It can't all be mob brawls and swagger I guess.
Good chapter.
