Indeed, almost a year - the better to see an update :)
I'm very glad you updated - enjoyed the new chapter; the flash backs too.
Interesting that Giles couldn't find Spike in his books...
More soon I hope? If not I'm patient but hoping for the best.
Author's Response: I was kinda hoping that no one would notice the whole year thing...lol
I'm quite the conspirecy theorist when it comes to the Council of Watchers, so there is a reason that Spike wasn't in Giles's books, but all of that will be explained in a future chapter!
Not soon soon, but as soon as I can! That shall be the next chapter. I am working on it, but with school and work, it's slow going,.

A new chapter, good. Now we know more about Spike and how he met his people. The flow of this story is excellent. I can't remember if Doyle get pain from his visions in the Angel series. Cordelia did, but she was just human, Doyle was halfdemon. Anyway that doesn't matter I just thought about it. I'm looking forward to more of this story it's so good.

The flashbacks about how the Spikettes came together is actually one of my fav parts to write. Re-writing the history of the Buffyverse to suit me is so much fun!
Yes, Doyle did have pain in ATS. It just wasn't killing him like it did Cordy, because he was a half demon.
I'm writing the next chapter now, but it's slow going because of work and school, but it is going!

i'm liking this more and more. i absolutely adore spike's family, and yea TARA's in this. i always liked her character. it looks like buffy and spike will finally meet soon, and not in her slayer dreams. i wonder if giles' kinda dismissal of buffy will make her more likely to listen to the spikettes (gotta snicker at that name, but it's no less/more dignifying than the scoobies) when she runs into one. looking forward to more!

I'm happy that you're enjoying the Spikettes (and you're right- no more dignifying name than Scoobies). I love Tara too- she's up there with Anya and Spike as my fav characters.
Spike and Buffy meet up next chapter, which I am working on at the moment (slow going, since I have to find time between school and work).
Giles's dismissal might not make Buffy believe the Spikettes, but it WILL make her ask questions earlier than she normally would.

Great chapter with lots of lovely backstory while moving the 'current events' along. Can't wait for Buffy's reaction to her first sight of 'her' vampire!

Since this is a new group dynamic, I felt that the backstory of the members was important, but I was kinda worried it would interfer with moving the story along. I'm glad it doesn't.

Um, I'm not completely sure actually. I'm kinda going through a medical thing at the moment...don't worry, I'\m fine, it's more like my mental state because of it all. I really haven't felt like writing as of late.

As far as Giles's behaviour, he was pretty buy the book early on in the series. He mellowed really mellowed out in season 3, but during this time period, he's still totally believing everything the Council tells him. He does know a few things though, and he doesn't realize it yet.
Don't worry- Angel and Buffy will be on the outs soon. I like Angel, so there won't be any bashing (or at least, too much), but he and Buffy won't be together long. I have other plans in mind for him.
And I don't promise more too soon, since I have a bunch of stuff due this week, but the week after is my spring break, so hopefully a new chapter then! Thanks again!

Ah interesting, Buffy had a slayer's dream where she was all the slayers that had fault against Spike before and she was herself. At last she has an inkling now that there was a vampire fighting with> a slayer before, together, not against.
Giles seems to be too much of a watcher to acknowledge Buffy is right about what she saw.
Mmmh if Willow is attracted by doing magic maybe Ms. Calendar can tutor her for once.
So all things are set Tara will go to the same school like the other and they are already moving in. Maybe Spike is already there because there were so less vampires to slay for Buffy.
Looking forward to more. :)

In the beginning, Giles was completely the stuffy watcher. He went exactly with what the council said, and didn't think outside the box. The council told him that vampires were evil and slayers only killed them, so he believed it, even with evidence to the contrary.
Yeah, Willow needs a tutor. I personally think she wouldn't have gotten so out of control if, at the beginning, she had someone teaching her not only magic, but the forces behind it- learn the teachings of Wicca as much as the magic. Ms. Calander would have been a great tutor, and with Tara coming along...
Spike isn't there yet, but it's the Annointed One gathering his forces for St. Vigious. Don't worry though- Spike and them get there next chapter!

It was interesting to se Buffy, the Scoobies and how Spike and his people plan to live. just wondering who sent Angel to Buffy in this story, or is it still Whistler?

oh please give us more!! such a lovely beginning and to think - it kinda makes sense if the humans have a sacred fighter/defender why not the demons too. i mean bad comes in all shapes, sizes, skin colors, and souls. and thank you for bringing in Lawson!! Im absolutely in love with his character, they should have kept him on longer.
um question -- is tara in high school? so shes the same age as buffy and friends? i assumed so but just curious. there where a few grammatical errors and typos but nothing that caused a problem with the story (the critique is just to help of couse!)
a very touching and closenit family you have written. i thought the story was wonderful overall!! it is certainly sparked my interest and I await more soon.

Well, since we know that not all demons are evil (I mean, can you even begin to imagine Clem evil by any stretch of the imagination), they should need some protection too. In my mind (at least for this story) three sections to the PTB- the ones who created Buffy are good, the Senior Partners are evil, and then there's the group in the middle that's grey...I think of them as more or less balance, and they're the ones who created the Slayer of Slayers. I will get more into that eventually.
Yes! Another Lawson fan!! I have the biggest fan girl crush on him! I wish they had kept him around too. He had such an interesting back story, and he seemed to go further into the idea that not all vampires are evil. Not to mention he was pretty good looking. lol
Yes, Tara is in high school. Since they were all the same age in collage, I went ahead and made Tara 16-17 in the fic. I'm glad you like how closeknit I made their 'family'. They've been together for a long time and been through a lot (as I'll get to later), and when you're with someone for that long, they become family.
As for grammer, yes I know. No matter how many times I read over something, I always seem to make mistakes somewhere. lol. I hate grammer and spelling.
As of next chapter, I have a beta though, so they should be coming out more error free. I also plan to have the next chapter out sometime next week.

I like the start a lot; good twist with the second council.
And Spike being protective of Tara, making sure she gets to school and getting trained by a witch too.
Spike having to claim ownership about the Hell mouth and then being stuck there? Together with the slayer. Good twist too.
Plus Spike&Lawson friendship stories, I like a lot too (Maryperk has some good ones).
I definitely look forward to more!

I'm a sucker for the Spike-Dawn relationship because of how cute and big brother/little sister is, and since I can't have Dawn in that spot here, Tara was my next choice. I love Tara/Spike friendships fics.
I also love Lawson- he was in one episode and I have a total fangirl crush on him ( I've read Maryperk's stuff featuring Lawson, and they are very good. Actually, they're what made me think of adding him to the Spikettes).
