I don't know how I never read this before. Well written and quietly sad.

What's most depressing of all is that you haven't a single review or favored story list I can stalk through, that's a tragedy right there! :,,,,,(

Gosh, I actually really liked it. The message I sorta got was: there are consequences. Strange no?
It's hard for me when stories take a string turn from canon, in this case, I recall buffy hesitating to kill a fledging because she was conflicted over whether he could be good like spike, then spike being anger at her for leaving herself so exposed and telling her not to hesitate. I get the connection to your other fic now, where the ideas came from.
Also, I remember her having a really long and insightful conversation with a fledging in season 7 before killing him anyway.
i really woulve loved a chapter on how they all reacted. How they reasoned this out, how it affected them and how it impacted their future. But I understand that would've been hard to write, I'm sure an ending like this is draining enough.
thanks for writing!

Well, I'm a sucker for a happy ending, so I don't love that his doesn't have one, but I can't say I'm terribly surprised, as it was heavily foreshadowed. But I'm a bit disappointed that Spike healed Buffy in some pretty important ways, but then broke her in the end... guess I feel like it would have made more sense if her "friends and family" had been more responsible. Some glaring grammar errors, but besides those, this is exquisitely beautifully written. Simply lovely.

I think I may read too many fics with a fairly compliant Spike because the line "Fuck me again and I'll think about it" caught me so offguard I i just started laughing outright.
Anyway. Have been enjoying the story. Thought I'd let ya know.

OMG!!!!! This story is amazing!!! I loved it! It was so well written. You could really feel what Buffy was going through and the Ending was FANTASTIC. Don't let any one tell you otherwise. It was perfect for the story. It came full circle. You could really understand why Buffy ended her own life. I was just so amazed. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to write tthis piece. I truely enjoyed it!!!

I just wanted to say that I think this story was beautiful. Desperately sad, of course, but I would have been disappointed if there had been a happy ending. It would have been disjointed and not done justice to the story as a whole.
Good stuff, I'm going to go comfort myself with ice cream now, though.

Every now and then I come back and read this story, sometimes from start to finish, sometimes the first few chapters, but I always make time for this last chapter. I find it so, so beautiful: all the details, all the emotions, the way Buffy's mind flits from mundane thing to mundane thing, the way Spike seems so very sorry and so desperate to save Buffy.

Wow. There aren't enough words to describe the love I am feeling for this story right now. It was so...haunting...and completely beautiful. I applaud the ending, as it is the only fitting way to end such a tragic tale. Also, as kind of a side note: adding in Jeremiah was a fantastic touch! Bravo~I look forward to more amazing stories from you.

I have to say I both loved and hated this story simultaneously. lol I've read some of the reviews, too, and seem to be somewhat stuck in the middle... it was a very powerful and involving story emotionally - the characters were well fleshed out - even Spike still killing after "shagging the Slayer" because it took Spike a long time to really grow into his "white hat" role in the show - he did make a damned good grey-area character but it wasn't something ingrained in him, either. The potential was always there, I feel, but not the motivation - and sex just isn't enough to commit one's self to another and change your entire way of (un) living. Spike in the series didn't make voluntary changes on his own until well after he'd realized he loved Buffy (it took him some time to stop fighting HIMSELF long enough to accept that to begin with), and I'm glad you reflected the part of him that showed the potential... but didn't be completely unrealistic and suddenly swing him in a 180 towards being overly redemptionistic too soon.
Buffy's character was also very well written - her strengths and weaknesses were portrayed very well, I felt.
The only real problem I had with this fic in the reading was the ending. It felt somewhat abrupt to me and not very satisfying. As far as angst goes, it fit perfectly - but I was genuinely hoping the story would go on possibly another 20 or so chapters and filter through both of the characters insecurities. Basically I was hoping for a happier ending ;-) However, one review I read did catch my eye with commenting on the "it didn't specify that she actually died yet and she died so many times in the series" - a sequel would be absolutely wonderful and I'd gladly read it if it was written.
Overall - wonderful job. It was well-written, well-composed, well thought out, and a genuine pleasure to read. It flowed well and stayed true to character, I felt.
Very good job. :-)

I had high expectations when I read the first chapter of this story - it turned out crappy. I don't like Jeremiah and the whole Buffy being corpse like. The fact that Spike continued killing even after being with Buffy is also very "out-of-character." However, I did like the concept of Buffy being scarred, reminded me of a fanfic where she is blind. But you're right, the ending is quite disappointing and it left a really bad taste on the mouth. Hope you do better on your next fic.

WTF? NOOOOO!!!!! And... "She closed her eyes" does not necessarily mean that she died, or even if she did that she couldn't be saved. Hell, they killed her like three times on the show. Please do an epilogue of some sort. You left the ending sort of open- we don't know for sure that she's dead, or even if she was, that when the paramedics pulled her out of the house, that Spike didn't just ambush them, and turn her anyway. It's an open ending- at least if you're determined to kill Buffy, please make it a definite not coming back kind of kill. Don't leave us gueesing.

Title: End
I've never cried at the end of a story before, but this comes very close. The entire story was written so beautifully, you've captured the characters perfectly, it was so beleivable and this ending... it was heartbreaking, but it worked. I hate that it works, but it did and now I'm sitting here with that empty feeling inside that makes me want to curl up in my bed and cry. Very powerful story. I loved it. So, I guess I'll have to do what I always do whenever I come across a story with a sad ending - make up a happy one of my own! Or... or, or, read back to a happier time! Or... read some fluff!
Really though. This is quite possibly one of the best stories I've read in a while.

I was going to wait to review AFTER I read the entire story... but I just went through 3 chapters and I have to say... The way you write drags me right into it. The way you described the pain? I could feel the pain in my own back... so much so I had to skip over then read back and remind myself it's just a story. Great... really, really amazing writing. Okay... reading on =]
