It's absolutely wonderful - great choice to make this as a tribute to Dawn and Spike - and it is a perfect treatment for her extreme anger and disappointment in Spike and the sad and tragic relationship that, IMO, primarily Buffy set-up for them in season 6.

Thanks for creating this lovely little gem. I don't think anyone could have captured Dawn better. Poignant and beautiful.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for the kind words. The story holds a special place in my heart, and it makes me happy to know you've found it worthwhile.. Thank you again.

Perfect Dawn voice; as I imagine it anyway. I agree that it does work best as a stand-alone, but I'm looking forward to the companion piece.
Author's Response: Dawn is fun to write and I love the Spike and Dawn friendship. Makes me so sad they never had closure in the show. ::sniffle:: Which is my roundabout way of saying thank you for the kind words. And I see you've read the companion piece now. So glad you enjoyed it!

wow... I just finished reading 'Touching Fire' and I love it, so I went back and read your other two stories, and 'her Gift' was awesome, but I'm in love with 'Dear Departed'. You have to post 'Unfinished Buisness' soon, because I need more Night Owliness =P
~Ashlie~
great job on 'Touching Fire', that story was so great! Loved the ending, though the next part (Season 6 Bitchy Buffy) isn't the greatest, that's Joss' fault huh?
Author's Response: Thanks so much, Ashlie! Many apologies for such a late reply. I've been sidelined for the last month but am back online now.
I haven't abandoned "Unfinished Business." In fact, it's almost finished but is temporarily on the backburner while I complete a WIP for the Spuffy Kinkathon. (I'll be posting that one here, too, once I've finished the whole thing.)
Thanks again for the kind words. Much appreciated!

I like it-- really sad with Dawn sstill being mad, but it rings true. I look forwward to the companion piece.
Author's Response: Thank you, Cecily. I'm happy you found it true to the character. In my little world, Dawn may have very mixed feelings about Spike right now, but this letter was the first step in letting go of her anger and admitting how much he still means to her. And I think the next story will please. Hope so, anyway.
