I thought it was great! I agree with Spike, a bit less Disney and a lot more Brothers Grimm. Anne's one smart little cookie. I can just picture this mini-Buffy pouting fiercely and arguing with Spike over the bedtime story. Those Summers girls do have a stubborn streak. LOL
Now, I'm off to read When the Day Breaks. Finally.

Now that was just too cute from beginning to end. I am just glad that Buffy was able to see that Spike still had guilt and she is trying to help eliviate some of that. And little Ms. Annie was just the cutest.

Once more I feel like I'm lacking language skills, so that I can't truly express what I think about this one...Well, I'll give it a try.
Firstly, Beauty and the Beast, in my eyes, fits perfectly as eqivalent to Buffy's and Spike's history. I can't think of a fairy tale that would fit any better. You made a good choice. Secondly, there's one thing I find really amazing - even if we know a story in every detail, like the one of Buffy and Spike, you are able to tell it as if it was the very first time; with all its tense and excitement. These stories never lose their quality, and I sat in front of my monitor and relived their stages once again without a second being bored.
Awesome.
About the story itself... Characterization as usual realistic and far from off-character. Buffy and Spike with their little daughter gave me such a warm feeling, I really liked it. I was glad when Buffy went into the room to finish the story correctly, and I had to laugh about their little discussions. These details as well as the well-written dialogues are things I like mostly about a story.
Last but not least, again you came with a conclusion that explained everything a bit more. I like these epiphanies as well.
Spike may have needed a soul to feel true guilt or to understand self-loathing, but he'd never needed a soul to love. .... :)
I tried to find something worth to be critized negatively, but I was glad not being able to find anything. This ficlet gave an insight to Buffy's and Spike's life as a family, which I'm thankful for. Really good work - again. Thanks for sharing it with us!

well-written and a very good idea. I loved it when Buffy joined the storytelling and their little bantering.
However, Iīve always had a hard time with stories that include Buffy appolagizing to Spike and making it sound (however I donīt know if this was your intention or not) like Buffy was partly to blame for the attempted rape. I donīt think there are any excuses for what he tried to do. However I donīt think itīs impossible for them to move on.
Author's Response: I don't think there's necessarily an "excuse," but I think it's something that should be viewed in context. Also, in Dead Things, she beat him to a pulp and left him there, not knowing if he'd even be able to get out of that alley before sunrise. Yet is she ever expected to apologize for this? My point in this story was not that the attempted rape wasn't a bad thing, but that they both hurt each other, so the blame for the overall badness--not the AR itself--belongs to both of them.

lovely............................You put it ithe way I believe every spuffy shipper felt. That is why we wanted them together because the love was so obvious and the path to that love was so filled with unnecessary pain. I think alot of people think that Spike's character hit an all time low with the so-called attempted rape but noone cared really about what happened to him up to that point or what the others did up to that point. I always love how you are able to point that out without appearing preachy . I knew you were great but this shows just how wonderful writing can be when you understand the characters...............Thanks it made my terrible week much brighter......................................

I really like the dig about the difference between Angel and Spike, I really like Angel as a character but he's got nothing on Spike! Spike could be sweet even when he didn't have a soul.
