You my dear, have an evil muse. I can appreciate that. My own is incredibly evil as well! LOL
I'm a bit shocked that you don't have a beta, but that's good. If you are cranking this out withour beta backing, then I expect some excellent stuff from you in the future. Beta's may feel a little intrusive sometimes, but they really only help to make things better.
As for finding a beta, there are a couple of places to find one. One place would be the BSV. There is a beta list posted. Just remember to send an email asking befor eyou send the fiction. Read the descriptions, and talk to them a little before you decide. Beta's are a little like clothes, everyone needs them, but not everything fits everyone right.
As for Riley, well, I never really cared for Riley. I always got the distinct impression that he was an Angel substitute for Buffy. And he had some major issues (but so does everyone else). And I don't see this as a giant leap from the character on the show in any way.
You're doing great! Keep it up.
Author's Response: Riley was Buffy's "token average joe" because she was so scared of what happened between her and angel. I can totally identify with that as my first husband was a bit on the scary side. hubby number two...i thought he was going to be my average normal joe (which i dont' think i ever would have wanted) but he surprised me witha bit of "spike personality" ha!
At any rate...I have found a beta for this and I look forward to improving it. I'll finish the rough draft first...but then I'll make revisions. I probably won't make any plot changes. My plot is pretty set. But I might write some of it differently, expand scenes, contract scenes...etc. we'll see what happens :)
