Here is a short history of the Slayers. I have collected and revised this list from other websites, the show, and published books about BtVS.

As long as there have been demons, there has been the Slayer. One girl in all the world, a Chosen one, born with the strength and skill to hunt vampires and other deadly creatures, to find them where they gather and to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their numbers. When one Slayer dies, the next is called and trained by the Watcher. A Watcher serves by finding the next Slayer, leading her on her path. It is the destiny of the Watcher to guide the Slayer.

The first slayer was introduced in the season four finale "Restless".Very little is known about her, only that she was solitary and lived only for her duty.

Rome 38AD, Diana was called, she died soon after in 40AD.

In the early 17th century, Erin Randall moved to Ireland and brutal murders came to an end.

Arabia, around 1629, a weakened town gained defence in young Shagrat al Dun.

In 1845, Boston shipyards were plagued by a series of grisly murders. The attacks ended when a quiet young woman, Samantha Kane, arrived in town.

In 1866, the disappearance of Civil War widows shocked an already grieving community. These disturbing events came to an end when Lucy Hanover set up camp in a nearby graveyard.

Angela Martignetti travelled through Italy around 1871 preventing countless murders.

In 1893, in the Oklahoma Territory, a series of savage attacks claimed the lives of 17 homesteaders. The murders stopped when a young woman blacksmith passed through town, some say her name was Grace.

1897, in Wyoming, a string of bizarre murders shocked a small, inside community. The killings ceased shortly after twenty year old Florence Gilbert arrived in town.

Twenty two New Yorkers lost their lives in the 1912 boarding house murders. The killings ended abruptly when a stubborn nurse named Arabelle Gish sought lodgings in room number six.

Chicago, 1927. Over a period of two weeks, forty-one bodies were found near Union Station. Shortly after the arrival of Sophie Carstensen, the murders stop.

Xin Rong, a Chinese slayer was called during the time of the Boxer Rebellion. She was killed by one William the Bloody.

During the time between the Boxer Rebellion and the 1970's not much is known about the slayers, only that their names and locations were as follows. Isabel Cortes (Spain), Eleanor Boudreau (America), Justine (England), Mariko (Japan).

A New York City slayer was called in the 1970's. Nikki lost her final battle to Spike, who snapped her neck in a subway train.

Called in 1993 and died in 1996, India was the slayer whose death activated Buffy. Featured in the Nancy Holder book, "The Book of Fours", India is trapped in the ghost paths and must be saved by Buffy, Kendra and Faith.

Buffy Summers is the current slayer and our heroine. She protects Sunnydale from the Hellmouth with the aid of her friends and her watcher, Giles. She once died facing The Master but was revived. She died again in "The Gift", but again was restored by witchcraft. Since no slayer has ever died twice, it is unlikely that another slayer will be called.

Kendra was the Jamaican slayer called to replace Buffy after her first death. They were both shocked to find that there were two active slayers. Kendra was killed by Drusillia in "Becoming Part One".

Called to replace Kendra, Faith becomes evil after the killing of a human. She joins forces with Mayor Wilkins and helps him in his plots. After the mayor's defeat, she moves to LA where Angel helps her with a change of heart.

2003 - All the potential slayers become activated in the fight against evil because a powerful witch channeled the essence of the Slayer's Scythe.

Melaka Fray is a slayer from far in the future, a teenage girl from the rough side of town who is about to find out that she's the chosen one. Introduced in the Dark Horse comic series, written by Buffy creator Joss Wheldon.
