Character
Anthony Stewart Head plays Rupert Giles, the school librarian and watcher. His job? To watch over the Slayer, teach her what she needs to know, provide a balance of discipline and friendship with the Slayer. Giles, does what he can to prepare the slayer for her duties but sometimes that isn't good enough.

He had a rocky relationship with Ms. Calendar which came to many stops over time. First, when he was discovered to have a hidden past that put Jenny in a life or death situation, he was forced to have to live with her rejection. Then, when she was discovered to be a gypsy who could have stopped Buffy and Angel from making the mistake that made him evil. Buffy and Giles shunned her after they found out but in Passion, Buffy told her she didn't want Giles to be alone. However, Angel killed her in that episode and left a huge scar for both Giles and Buffy.

Giles took over the father figure in Buffy's life when Buffy's dad failed to do so. He killed Ben when Buffy could not and after Buffy died he decided to leave Sunnydale and return to England, after a sad goodbye from the scoobies he did so...only to return when Buffy came back. After seeing that Buffy was using him to escape her own responsibilities he decided that the best thing to do was to leave to go to England so Buffy would have to face her responsibilities and deal with them like an adult. He is now living in England.

Actor

Anthony Stewart Head is a very successful actor from England. He has many credits added to his list of accomplishments in the entertainment world. You may recognize him as that mysteriously romantic guy from those Tasters Choice commercials. He now stars as Rupert Giles, the school librarian and Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Watcher. The character he plays has an interesting way of providing comedy. He plays a thought-to-be-boring guy, but really has a mysterious past.

Anthony Stewart Head was a regular on the show VR-5. He has had guest stints on Highlander, and NYPD Blue. His movie credits include: A Prayer for the Dying, Lady Chatterley's Lover, and Devil's Hill. He also starred in the Showtime movie, Royce with Jim Belushi. His England credits include: Secret Army, Acident, Bergerac, The Grudge Fight, Howard's Way, Pulaski, Enemy at the Door, and Love in a Cold Climate.

He was born in Camdentown, England and grew up in Hampton. He went to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, and got his first break playing Jesus in "Godspell," in the West End. He has also starred in many other theater productions including: Julius Caesar, The Heiress, Chess, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Yonadab, and Rope. Along with his talent for acting , Head also sings. He can be heard with his band "Two Way". He's also sang on Buffy. Anthony Stewart Head will get his own spinoff show entitled "The Watcher".

Anthony Stewart Head divides his time between homes in LA (where he films Buffy) and London where his family is. He and his girlfriend Sarah (not Gellar), have two beautiful daughters and ghost that haunts their home.
