Lisa Black of "Bellylove"

Lisa Black, who plays guitar for the band, "Bellylove" was kind enough to answer questions about being a musician and working on Buffy. Bellylove played at the Bronze during the Season 3 premiere episode, "Anne."

1. If any, what would you say was the greatest price you had to pay to get to this point in your careers?

Humility.

2. Where do you see the band in 5 years? Is there a specific point you want to reach?

In the year 2003 I see Bellylove performing for a mixed crowd of humans and aliens. A sold out show on a life support platform floating somewhere in outer space probably near Europa orbiting Jupiter, there or The revised version of The Lilith Fair on the Main stage.

3. Of all the songs that you play, does anyone have a favorite? People tend to like Retrospect... maybe it's because that's my favorite song. Actually I thought that would have been on Buffy, the writer (Marti Noxon) for Buffy who heard us and referred us to Joss liked it the best too, but Back to Freedom was so appropriate for "depressing night" on the Anne episode. (I guess we should take that as a compliment?)

4. Many bands have preformed on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Some come back with good reports, others, not so much. On a scale of 1 - 10 (ten being the best) what would you rate your experience playing on Buffy?

5. When you got to perform on Buffy, what was the greatest part about it?

The actual filming of the scene. Quite frankly I enjoyed being on the stage watching the extras try and dance to Back to Freedom.

6. Would you like to come back and perform on Buffy again?

Indeed

7. Was there anyone or anything that inspired you to become a musician?

The sound of live drums in a dark smokey nightclub that my parents snuck me into when I was 10, that and glam.

8. If you weren't singing or performing as musicians, what would you be doing?

Brain surgery.

9. What is your favorite memory in your career as a musician?

Looking at the final product when the Bellylove c.d. was finished, holding it in my hand for the 1st time was a big thrill.
