Jeff Stacy is the bassist of Velvet Chain. He is also composer and producer of the band. Two of Velvet Chain's songs, "Strong" and "Treason" play in the Season 1 episode, "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date."

1. If any, what would you say was the greatest price you had to pay to get to this point in your careers?

Financial stability and sports cars.

2. Velvet Chain has come a long way and had a very successful career so far. Where do you see the band in five years?

I don't know if Velvet Chain is mainstream enough ot ever achieve huge, monumental, multi-platinum success, but the elecitic music of today becomes the pop music of tomorrow, so who knows. And we have a lot of strong material in our backlog and a fan base that is really quite loyal. This should convert into some long term staying power. We're definitely not a flavor of the month type band. In five years we will be on around ablum number five and still jamming like crazy.

3. Of all the songs that you play, does anyone have a favorite?

My personal favorite gravitates towards newer stuff I'm working on at the time you ask me. Overall, I would have to say that "Don't Leave a Diva" is historically our most popular song.

4. Many bands have performed on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Some come back with good reports, others, not so much. On a scale of 1 - 10 (ten being the best) what would you rate your experience playing on Buffy?

I would have to say a 10. We made some really good friends from the show, and got a ton of new fans. Actually doing the show was a pleasure. We hung out and ate snacks all day. Everybody was nice. Of course, this was only the forth episode, so maybe things have changed. I don't know. I suspect not.

5. When you had the opportunity to perform on Buffy, what was the greatest part about it?

The greatest part about it was the huge fulrry of people hitting our website and registering for the band's e-mail list and buying our records. After seeing the band on TV, a lot of people took the time to track us down on the Internet. That is very gratifying, especially because we were only on for about a minute. The power of television as a vehicle for exposure is absolutely amazing. And that's the most important issue for an up-and-coming band - exposure. No matter how cool your band is, it does not matter if nobody knows about you. If a band is truely good, then the only barrier between it and success is simply exposure.

6. Are there any plans to have Velvet Chain return to Buffy? Or at least, do you want to return and perform on Buffy again?

We would go back on Buffy in a heartbeat. Not only because it's good for the exposure of the band of the band, but also because it is a cool show, and we like most of the poeple associated with it. They may ask Velvet Chain to do the show again. I have no idea, really.

7. Was there anyone or anything that inspired you to become a musician?

Music inspired me to become a musician. Also, my instrument, the bass, inspired me to become a musician. I bought one at a garage sale and started playing it as a joke. I ended up learning an entire Police Man album in a week. I was hooked. HTen, when I started writing, I got really hooked. I'm a complete lost cause now.

8. If you weren't singing or performing as musicians, what would you be doing?

Well, I would have to say I would be composing and/or producing. If I was not doing music at all, I have no idea what I would be doing. Maybe graphic design.

9. What is your favorite memory so far in your career as a musician?

Probably when we went on tour. It was really great. Can't wait to go out again.

10. Where do you want your career in music to take you? What are your goals for your future?

My most fundamental goal is to be able to write, play and record music without having to worry about much of anything else. That would be like heaven to me. That's what I like to do, and that's all I want to do (besides recreation and travel).
