Xander knocked on the door to the San Francisco apartment with his shoe. His hands
were overburden with a wealth of presents for the couple inside. They'd become
a couple years after meeting. Xander laughed to himself at how he first acted
like her father, questioning the intentions of her suitor. But over the years,
Xander relaxed with the knowledge that Spike would never let anything happen to
Dawn.
To his delight, Dawn opened the door, her eyes immediately growing large and yelled,
"Spike! Come help."
Xander saw Spike come into the foyer wearing his usual jeans, but this time a
Christmas t-shirt. At his incredulous expression, Dawn muttered, "It's the closest
thing to a Christmas sweater that he would wear."
"I come bearing gifts and tidings from…well, everyone," Xander said cheerfully
as Spike took some of the presents out of his arms.
"Come in, come in!" Dawn ushered him into the living room where a nicely shaped
tree sat in the corner.
Examining the weird foamy white stuff on the tree acting like snow, Xander asked,
"What on earth is that stuff?" He leaned in to sniff and then looked up in surprise,
"Redi-whip?"
"Yeah, doesn't it make the coolest looking snow?"
"And it smells better than that damn 'Snow in a Can'," added Spike.
"Cool. You'll be the next Martha Stewart yet, Dawnie."
"Redi-whip…it's a good thing," Dawn said with a straight face, before running
to the kitchen with a yelp. Xander watched her puzzled, until Spike stiffened
and a genuine look of fear graced his face. Dawn came running back in the room
with a said can of Redi-whip in hand and began spurting at both Spike and himself.
"Hey!" they both yelled.
"Merry Christmas!" said Dawn.
