Angel Season V Episode #100: "You're Welcome" Episode Guide

This summary is the intellectual property of Loey

Angel has had it. Yet another Wolfram & Hart client has slaughtered a bunch of innocent people with impunity, and our favorite undead CEO is ready to quit for real this time. He means it. Seriously.

Then Cordelia wakes up from her coma. This doesn't immediately seem connected to Angel's predicament, since she was jolted back to consciousness by a vision from the Powers, showing a tattooed man plotting to kill Angel. While the gang tries to put together the pieces of that revelation, Cordy gives Angel several lectures about how dangerous this attempt to fight evil from the inside really is, and accuses him of losing his sense of purpose. She's preaching to the choir on that one.

Before too long, Spike spills the beans about "Doyle," and the rest of the puzzle comes together. After a little threat-of-torture session with Eve, Angel learns that Lindsey is the man from the vision, and his tattoos are making him invisible to both mystical and mechanical surveillance. He has, in fact, infiltrated the W&H building, and is planning to trigger a monstrous fail-safe mechanism to destroy Angel once and for all. With Spike's help, Angel and Cordy confront Lindsey, and the requisite big fight ensues, during which Lindsey accuses Angel of going from champion to big, wussy sell-out. Instead of letting this bother him, however, Angel pummels Lindsey nicely, while Cordelia turns off the fail-safe thing.

Meanwhile, Wesley is instigating a spell that will remove Lindsey's protective tattoos. It kicks in just in time, and the Senior Partners suck the Tiny Texan into a vortex, none too pleased.

Angel sends Eve packing, warning her that the Senior Partners probably won't be happy to hear about her activities. Once she's gone, Lorne suggests they all go out for a drink. Cordy and Angel hang back for a moment, and Angel admits that reasserting himself by defeating Lindsey made him feel better. He's beginning to think that he can use Wolfram & Hart for good. Cordelia smiles and tells him that she knew that all along - she just needed him to know it, too. After all, he needs saving just as much as all those people on the streets.

Cordy won't be there to see it all play out, though. She tearfully tells him that the Powers owed her a favor, and she used it to help get Angel back on track. Now that he and the others are OK, she has to go back to her own destiny, which doesn't include them anymore.

They share a goodbye kiss, and the phone rings. When Angel answers, he's stunned to hear that it's someone from the hospital. Cordelia is dead. In fact, she never woke up.

Ange looks over to where she was standing. She's gone.
