Inside Karatoss, Angel is apologizing to Merle for the way he has treated him. Merle isn't buying it. Merle tries to hit Angel with a bottle, but is unable too. Karatoss is a sanctuary. No violence can be commited. Gunn drives Merle home, and Merle is killed.

PtI

Gunn is reliving how he had to stake his sister that became a vampire, and is awoken by a page. He goes over to Merle's place where Angel and Wess are investigating. Gunn is confused as to why. He doesn't think they should be trying to find out who killed a demon. Gunn is giving attitude. Wess tells him to go home.

Gunn goes to visit his old gang. Rondell, and his old crew welcome him. There is a new addition. Gio came out from Miami. Gio brings up the fact that Gunn is working for a vampire.

Angel is worried about Fred again, and discussing it with Cordy. He is asking Cory to talk to her, to bond with her. Angel is looking a list of Merle's enemies.

Back with his old crew, Gunn is upset that e has been labeled a traitor. Rondell bring up the fact that things changed after his sister died. In another part of town, Angel and Wess are working off their list. They go to Merle's bookie, who is also dead. In the sewer, another demon is attacked. We see Gunn's old crew with Gio is at the front.

Pt II

While in the bookie's apartment, Gunn arrives. They are labeling evidence. There is an arrowhead stuck in the wall. Gunn takes it because he recognizes where it came from. Gunn is again amazed that they are investigating the deaths of demons. Wess explains that there are shades of gray, and that there is something killing demons, not making distinctions on whether they are good or bad. Angel arrives.

Gunn goes to see his old gang about the arrowhead. Gunn is telling his buddy that they have a rogue on the crew that is killing anything that walks, when his buddy says that they were all up there. As his buddy Rondell takes off, Gio appears and says that his friend still thinks he is a hero, but he knows better.

In the hotel, Wess is realizing that there is evidence bag missing. Fred comes down and goes outside. Angel cues Cory to go outside. Cordy is explaining to Fred that she wants her to go out, and Fred thinks she is trying to tell her to get out. Cordy explains that she would like to go out with Fred for an evening.

Gunn is in his truck trying to figure out wht he should do about his old gang. He goes to the hotel. Angel is there. He is saying that there is a pattern. Gunn is looking for Wess. At Karatoss, Fred is singing. Gunn enters, and Lauren is at the bar. He is telling him to not read his mind. Lauren knows that Gunn has answers to all Wess' questions. Fred's singing is interrupted by gunfire. Gunn's old gang has appeared at the bar intending to kill all the demons there.

Pt III

Gio calls for Gunn. Wess, Cordy, and Fred are behind a table. Rondell is astonished that Gunn is keeping company with demons. Gunn is telling his gang that they lost the mission. The gang allows Cordy to leave to get Angel. Cordy get to the hotel and Angel tells her to go see the Transuting Furies, the three sisters who can lift the spell from Karatoss. He will go to Karatoss.

In Karatoss, Gio is singing. The mike stops working, and he shoots the equipment. Lauren starts reading Gio's mind, and Gio hits him in the jaw. They grab a demon trying to run away. Gunn grabs a gun from Gio. Gio starts talking and brings up Gunn's sister. Gio pushes Gunn, and Gunn yells for him to shut up. Gunn ends up shooting the demon. Angel arrives.

Pt IV

As Angel shows up, Rondell offers the stake to Gunn and tells him to kill him. Angel turns into vampire to make it easy for him, to help him make a choice. Cordy is at the sister's apartment convincing them to raise the spell.

Gunn is telling them that he won't kill aangel. He is telling them Angel has the mission, and they don't. Gio offers that anyone who wants to kill vampire can go free. Fred gets up and takes the weapon. She points it at Angel, then turns it on Gio. Gio grabs the gun from Fred. Then the spell is lifted, and fights break out. One of the demons bit off Gio's head.

After it is all over, Fred puts Gio into cab. Wess warns him that if he ever holds any information from him again, he will be fired. Wess gets into the cab and leaves. Angel comes out. Gunn starts apologizing to Angel. Angel said that Gunn had proved to him that if the day came, he could trust him to do what's right and kill him.
