Wess, Cordy, Gun and Fred are in the hotel talking about Angel's absense. Cordy and Wess start dramatizing Angel's and Buffy's relationship. They argue about her being a slayer and him being a vampire, and then it leads up to Wess saying "Kiss me!" and Cordy saying "Bite me!" Wess grabs Cordy and starts to play bite her when Angel walks in to see the whole thing. Angel walks in and invites Fred to ice cream. During the trip to the shop, there's a demon that Angel and Fred chase down into the sewers. He is puzzled because this demon doesn't usually go into the street. He tells Fred to go back to the hotel, and Angel fights the demon.

PtI

Wess, Cordy and Gunn are taking inventory of the weapons when a couple walks in. This couple has a daughter that is missing. The gang starts going off about demons, when the couple states they have hired detectives and their daughter is staying at the hotel. They are Fred's parents. Fred sees them and runs upstairs. The gang tells Fred's parents that Fred had relocated and has just had troubles. Meanwhile, Fred is grabbing her stuff. Angel walks in with the head of the demon he fought in the sewers. Cordy tells them that the head is one of his props. There is some awkwardness between everyone and Angel shows her parents her room. Fred is gone, on the run. And her parents want to see her.

PtII

The gang isn't sure they trust Fred's parents. They start off t go hunting for Fred. The team breaks off from Angel. Angel goes to see Lorne. At Lorne's door, there is a scared Fred. His bar is still demolished. Lorne knows Fred is running away from her parents, and Lorne tells her she hasn't run far enough.

Angel is in the sewers looking for Fred. There's a big bug hidden away. Cordy is with Fred's parents at the library. Her parents are wondering why a physicist was working for a detective agency. Gunn and Wess meet up with Cordy, and have a little conference.

Angel's cell phone rings in the sewers. He is being watched, and followed by this big bug. The group meets up at Karatoss. Gunn goes outside because of the destruction, and Lorne not wanting him there. Fred's parents tell Cordy and Wess that they aren't detectives because they don't know where she is, or maybe they do. Angel is listening to Lorne saying his feelings are hurt. Lorne tells him that Fred doesn't want to see her parents. Lorne tells Angel he has to be careful with this issue.

Fred is at the train station talking to herself again. The bug is watching her. The gang walks into the train station with Fred's parents. Fred starts freaking out. She says that she was lost for five years, and all alone. Fred is talking about how she believed what happened to her up until now was a fairy tale, in her mind, but now since she has seen her parents, all the horrible things that happened to her were real. She is crying and apologizing to her parents. They said that they will make everything ok, and she is safe. And then the bug drops down to kill them all.

PtIII

Angel tells everyone to get outside. The bug throws Angel through the window. Angel has vamped out, and Fred's parents ask what is wrong with his face. The gang is fighting the bug with cross bows, and weapons until they get thrown off. Fred starts fighting it and Angel throws her off. Fred's father tries to fight it too. Angel gets thrown into a bus, then a bus runs the bug over. Fred's mom hops out of the bus.

Back at the hotel, Cordy is bandaging Fred up. Her parents are oohing and aahing about the demons, and at the demon's head that has crystals formed on it now. Fred is talking about the gang and how every person has their own role in the operation, and loses track when she gets to herself. Fred's dad said that he didn't care what kind of blood that Angel drank because he saved his little girl. Then Fred says she wants to go home, that she's not cut out for this stuff because she endangered the group. The gang thinks she will be happier at home, with her parents.

Fred is up in her room packing her stuff and Angel comes in. She talks about her fairy tale of Angel saving her from Pilea, but she realizes that he can't save her again. She knows she traded her cave for another cave, and thinks she should go.

Cordy and Fred's mom are downstairs talking. They are looking at Fred's contraption. They think it's a weapon or a toaster. Angel and Fred come down. Fred is keeping the shirt with bug goo on it. Fred gives everyone a hug except for Angel. Angel hands her suitcase to her and says goodbye. She exits with her parents.

In the cab, her parents are talking about her room. Fred looks down at her bug goo shirt, and sees crystals formed on it. She demands the cab to turn around. The group is talking about Fred, and how much happier she will be. In the other room, the demon's head starts moving around.

Pt IV

Another bug appears outside. Cordy is preparing to leave when she sees a bug walk in the door. There's a ton of bugs outside too. They head for the weapons. Angel starts fighting as Fred runs in. She sets up her contraption with her dad's help, and the catapult slices the demon's head open, revealing baby bugs. The bugs take their babies and leave. Fred figured out that the bugs were tracking them because they had laid eggs in the demon's head, and then Angel took the demon's head to the hotel. Everyone congratulates her. She realizes she belongs there with them, and no one has any objections. Her parents decide to stay for a bit to play catch up for five years. Everyone is painting Fred's room. She is getting ready to move on from her caves and her fairy tales. She will always remember her story.
