Angel confronts Holtz, and his men entrap Angel in an iron claw around the neck. Angel is telling Holtz that he has changed. Meanwhile, in the car, Darla is still yelling from being in labor. The crew is still waiting for Angel, and decide they can't stay there. Darla kicks and knocks everyone to the ground.

PtI

1764 -Holtz is galloping to the field and comes home to his dead wife, and his daughter Sarah. She is still alive, or so it seems. He holds her while he sings to her, and sees the bite marks on her neck. At the office of Wolfram and Hart, Lila and Gavin are filling Lynn on how they are not sure who this mysterious person is. Lynn again threatens that they are to take blame for not capturing Darla and her baby. At the hotel, Holtz is questioning Angel about Darla. Angel is telling him that he is being used, and he will lose his soul for servicing evil.

In the alley, Cordy slaps Wess so he wakes up. Gunn and Fred are standing over her. Darla is in the car, talking to herself. They get ready to take off and the four crowd into the front seat. Darla is upset that no one wants to sit in the back with her. Then they are surrounded by Holtz's demon army. At the hotel, Holtz is beating up Angel. A demon walks in saying they found Darla, and the demon brings in Lila. Lila repeats her knowledge of how Angel was cursed by gypsies and now has a soul, meant to atone for centuries of evil. Holtz is shocked.

Angel then tells Lila to duck. He has accessed a grenade, pulls the pin, and disappears. Holtz tells Lila to backoff. She mentions they were looking for Darla. Holtz walks off, and Lila finds the Niazeran scroll. In the alley, the gang is fighting the demons and Darla is in the car talking to herself again. Darla jumps in the car and takes off. She ends up running over several demons in the process. The gang is watching her go when Angel shows up.

PtII

He tells them of Holtz. They are in the alley, discussing the repercussions of his appearance. Angel tells them to find a safe place for Darla to have her baby and takes off. At Wolfram and Hart, Lila is getting someone to decipher the scroll. Holtz is talking to the Sajan, the demon who brought him to Angel and is upset that Sajan didn't tell him Angel now has a soul. Holtz asks Sajan if he has kept anything else from him, and Sajan says no. Angel finds Darla on a rooftop. Darla doesn't want the baby to come out, because she loves it. Angel tells her that she will have the baby, and take care of it. Darla thinks that these feeling she is having is from the baby, and once it is out of her, she won't be able to love it.

At Karatoss, the crew is asking Lauren if Darla can have her baby there. Lauren is wiring up a spell to prevent demon and human violence. Up on the rooftop, Angel and Darla are still talking. Wess calls him and tells him to come to Karatoss. They are testing the new spell by having Fred hit Gun, repeatedly. Up on the rooftop, Darla is in pain. At Wolfram and Hart, the scroll is deciphered. The man tells Lila there will be no birth, only death.

PtIII

Back in 1764, Holtz is at home, watching his daughter hide in the corner, away from sunlight. He gets up, and throws her outside. In present day, Lauren is still testing the machine. Darla and Angel arrive. Darla sits down, and then they take her into Lauren's bedroom. She gets up from the chair, and there is blood into it. At the demon's lair, the guy who was working on the wiring replays the conversation where Darla and Angel can go to Karatoss. At the bar, Wess explains to Angel that his son is dying inside Darla. Gunn brings up the fact that they don't know what forces they are dealing with, whether the powers are protecting something that is good, or bad. Lauren finally gets the spell to work and Cordy can't hit Gunn.

Darla is in bed, and Angel goes to talk to her. She knows her baby is dying. Outside in the bar, Holtz comes down. He is not recognized. Lauren tells him they are closed and to come back tomorrow night. As he is leaving , he is humming. Lauren looks up and tells everyone to run. A canister comes rolling down the stairs with a grenade, and there is an explosion. His new spell doesn't prevent violence that gets rolled down the stairs, and past the doorway.

PtIV

They realize they are under attack. Angel tells Darla Holtz is there. Lauren and Gunn move the bed to beat their way outside. Darla understands this is the perfect time for him to be there, when they took away his family, he can now have the same revenge. Holtz walks into Karatoss. As the gang gets outside Darla falls on the ground. Angel is there with her and he tells everyone to go to the car, but Fred stays with them. Darla starts apologizing for what she's done. Darla tells him they can't make up for any the destruction and pain they caused. She says their child is the only good thing they ever did, and to make sure he tells Holtz that.

Darla stakes herself, and there is the baby. Holtz is walking through Karatoss, and comes outside when Angel grabs his son and wraps him up. He has a arrow aimed at Angel and hesitates shooting him. The demons show up in the alley. Holtz puts his arrow down and Angel and Fred walk past him and get in the car. Sajan comes out, mad at Holtz because he has not killed Angel. Holtz reassures him that he will kill Angel and show no mercy.
