Never give up. Never surrender!
ANGELians:

A wonderful fan of the show wrote me with some self-doubts:

I'm getting people who are emailing me saying things like "It's hopeless... if UPN (or TNT or insert network here) were going to pick ANGEL up, they would have all ready." Do you get this and if so what do you say to them. I'm having a hard time being Spunky McHopeful when I half way agree with them......
Give me some super pearl of wisdom for this :p

Keep up the faith! Remember, it’s the people who don’t have the courage to stay hopeful that make defeat self-fulfilling. It’s a message from both Buffy and Angel that we should all take to heart: keep fighting, even against impossible odds, because when you give up, you will lose. There’s no way to win by throwing up your hands and saying, “it’s hopeless!”

But people are easily discouraged when they don’t see quick results. Last year, the decision by The WB to renew ANGEL wasn’t made until the end of April! In 2001, when Buffy was picked up by UPN for two more years, that deal only closed on April 20. So it’s not too late.

And it won’t be too late for me, until The WB and UPN announce their complete Fall Schedule. That won’t be until Mid-May. I, for one, intend to go down fighting.

Here’s the secret of this battle: don’t listen to the naysayers and the negatives and the people who want to give up -- they may think they’re being realists, but in reality, they’re just too tired, or unmotivated, or doubtful to keep up hope. It’s easy to get infected by their doubts and to say, “This is too hard. I’m going to hang it up and go home.”

Everything that’s worth doing is difficult; it’s a challenge because we fear getting disappointed. But in the end, wouldn’t you rather say you were on the side that was doing something, working for a cause, rather than the one that did nothing? And imagine how much sweeter it will be, when we do win, that you can feel you were a part of that victory!

So in the immortal words of Winston Churchill, “Never give in. Never give in. Never. Never. Never. Never!”

It's exactly what Gunn said, in Peace Out: “Never give up, never surrender!
