Vampires and Demons in UK
A Vampire and a demon are to get their teeth into a Grimsby audience when a cult TV night re-emerges in Grimsby.

Actors Julie Benz and Andy Hallett will fly into town on June 21 in Slayerfest: Angel Delight, an event dedicated to the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off, Angel. American stars Julie, who plays vampire Darla, and Andy, who stars as a green-skinned demon called Lorne, will sign autographs and speak to the audience at the event, which will raise cash for the Caxton Theatre's Disabled Access Fund.

Organiser Andy Evans said: "This is the fourth event with guests and there is still a lot of interest, despite Buffy having been cancelled in the States and Angel coming to the end of its run.

"We've already started getting inquiries from around the country after we posted the news on line."

Darla was the first vampire to appear in Buffy and went on to reprise the role in Angel.

Her other roles include parts in the UFO show Roswell and Steven Spielberg's mini-series, Taken.

She has also made several appearances on film, including Jawbreaker and Satan's School For Girls.

Andy Hallett was discovered when he was singing at a cabaret show.

The part of Lorne was written with him in mind and he became a main cast member in 2003.

Mr Evans said: "Andy in particular has been expressing an interest to come for more than a year.

"He was nagging me a year ago, asking why he hadn't been invited.

"They're both in the UK for a series of conventions, coming nowhere near Grimsby.

"Andy requested that the guy who organises the conventions get in touch with me.

"When the main cast start saying we want to appear at the Caxton Theatre, you get very excited."

All profits will go towards the cost of the installation of a lift for elderly and disabled patrons.

Mr Evans said: "We really want to ensure that this event sells out.

"We've got the Arts Council grant, but we've still got a little way to go to finish the job."

Tickets, priced £15 each, go on sale from 10am on Tuesday, March 30, from the Caxton Theatre booking office at Grimsby Central Library on (01472) 346251.
