Fans gathered in Leicester Square tonight to see the stars of Scooby-Doo 2 arrive for the UK premiere will have been a tad disappointed when nothing but the usual Friday night punters and the odd inebriate turned up to greet them. Where they really wanted to be was the Warner Village Cinema in Islington, where the Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Lina Cardellini and Seth Green were all present (sans dog) to send off their film.

"I think the first movie was good but this time we really set out to make a better one," said Lillard. "We've got Seth Green, Alicia Silverstone and all the original ghosts and monsters from the series - it really is a fresh new dope approach… I can't believe I just said that, yeah, have another glass of champagne Matthew."
Gellar, who gets to show off her martial arts skills in the film, drew obvious parallels between Daphne and her former television role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "You know, I would never even compare them," she told us. "Buffy is a superhero in a real world and Daphne is... well, let's face it, a cartoon character."

Working with a non-existent canine co-star, did the cast find it easier to work alongside nothing this time around? "Oh I've been working in this business a long time, and it's amazing how many actors give you nothing," smirked Lillard.
