Over, but not out
|
Fox has dumped the lovely but little-watched Wonderfalls, which premiered just three weeks ago. The network had moved the show to a new time slot on Thursdays just last week and apparently was not pleased with the result.
Tim Minear, one of the executive producers and a veteran of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, broke the news on the fan site www.buffistas.org . (Fox has since confirmed the show's demise.)
``Once we recover from the not-shock, (producers) Todd (Holland), Bryan (Fuller) and I will see if there's some venue in which to air the remaining episodes,'' Minear said, thinking specifically of a DVD release.
``As I have said from the start, the thirteen taken as a whole tell a story and go to a place, so a run of this `limited' series would not be unsatisfying elsewhere. It's a question as to whether the studio will want to invest in a DVD release of a failed series,'' Minear said.
If enough fans want it, you will probably see it -- especially since it's a way for the studio to recover some of the cost of making Wonderfalls. After all, one-season wonders Firefly, My So-Called Life, Brooklyn South and (arriving in stores today) Freaks and Geeks have made it to DVD.
