Look Homeward Angel is the title of the InStyle Magazines’ April issue featuring David Boreanaz and his ‘home away from set’. When a guy spends his days fighting personal demons and saving lost souls from the burning fires of hell, he needs a relaxing place to come home to, writes Juan Morales. On the January day of the photo shoot it was unusually cold in California but quite warm by the fireplace in the Hollywood Hills home David shares with wife, actress Jaime Bergman, and their 2-year old son, Jaden.
After the success of his role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and subsequent own spin-off series Angel now in its fifth and final season, David found his dream house in the summer of 2000 in a 1938 property. “I wanted something that reflected by East Coast roots,” he said in the article, “And this house had a Connecticut one-story feel to it – like a cottage nestled into the hillside.”
The two-bedroom main house includes a poolside guest house, décor includes a crimson sofa in the media alcove, a portrait of Jaden hangs in the dining room, and David’s interest in old-time Hollywood is evident in the stacks of photos books on the living room table. The airy new kitchen area with its high, vaulted ceiling, circular booth-style breakfast nook and shiny bar stools sit around a mahogany island. The exterior includes a slate patio and fire pit for entertaining which David worked on himself.
