It's a kick in the teeth for home-grown cinema but the debut of Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead failed to budge Scooby-Doo 2 from the top of the UK box office over the weekend.
Proof positive that far too many people are won over by Sarah Michelle Gellar's sultry charms, the cartoon canine's second outing took £2.3 million over the weekend, relegating Shaun to third place and Drew Barrymore's 50 First Dates to second.
Frankly we're a little disappointed in all of you. Call yourselves patriots? Well you can still make amends; if you've yet to catch the rom-zom-com then nip out to your local multiplex now and cough up the cash.
Scooby-Doo indeed...
