Angel picks up a Saturn Award....or four!

Amy Acker arriving at the 30th Saturn Awards Ceremony

The 30th Saturn Awards ceremony took place last night and the cast and crew of Angel went home happy.

Angel tied with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for the Best Network Television Series while the star himself, David Boreanaz, picked up Best Actor In A Television Series for the second year in a row.

Amy Acker faced tough competition in the Best Supporting Actress In A Television Series category, going up against former co-star Charisma Carpenter, but Acker walked away with the award that Alyson Hannigan had won the year before for Buffy.

It was a similar story for James Marsters who beat Alexis Denisof to win Best Supporting Actor (Television) for his role as Spike in both Buffy and Angel. Marsters had previously won a Saturn Award back in 2002 when he was voted as Cinescape's Face Of The Future.

Despite Eliza Dushku and Sarah Michelle Gellar being nominated in the Best Actress In A Television Series category for roles in Tru Calling and Buffy The Vampire Slayer respectively, Joan of Arcadia star Amber Tamblyn pipped them both to the award.

Firefly continues to grow in popularity in the advent of next years cinema release of the film Serenity, based on the now cancelled TV show. Firefly: The Complete Series won Best DVD Television Release.
