Presently penning TV pilots for 20th Century Fox, Hanson admits to having his faith tested by a slice of Hell on Earth — namely, reality-TV.
“I hate reality television, both for altruistic and self-serving reasons.”
For one thing: “It wallows in the worst foibles and weaknesses of humanity.”
For another, it means there’s less work for writers (“It’s sucking up the market”) and less opportunity for top-notch scribes such as The West Wing’s Aaron Sorkin and Buffy’s Joss Whedon to develop quality shows.
“The term ‘genius’ is thrown around a lot in Hollywood, but for those guys to leave television, it’s really bad.”
