"I'm probably going to turn it in in a few days," Whedon said. "It's coming along. ... There will be all of the expected stuff. Of course there will be the bracelets; there will be the invisible jet, the lasso, all of that."
Whedon likened his Wonder Woman to his Buffy character from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," adding: "It's about girls maturing, a rite of passage, that kind of thing."
Now, usually when a male writer/director starts spouting off about writing a story on girls maturing, female rites of passage and such, I get skeptical. Done right defensive, in fact. But this is Whedon. This is the man who brought us Buffy. I'm not saying that Buffy was a typical girl, but she was complex, strong, sensitive, and very flawed. She was interesting. I suspect that he'll write the best Wonder Woman character we've seen to date.
Whedon said it's too early to speculate on casting for the project but that he hopes to begin production later this year. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I REALLY can't wait to see what he's got in store for us.
