Review of “I Fall To Pieces” Talk about your preverbal brain freeze! Well, I know I'm in for a treat with both Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt at the helm here, so I expect nothing below great and I'm not totally disappointed. The only thing I would really swipe about might be some of the special effects. I got the child-like nightmare flash backs of Invaders From Mars and The Blob. Not to mention Thing from the Addams Family. These tended to take away from the horror a tad but Joss is like that. Although when Dr. Meltzer raised his non-hands, well that was a bit un-nerving! This is probably the most intense dialogue written for the show. Not only on the technical aspect but by the emotional insight as well. Doyle has a very poignant moment that reflects Angels affects on those he helps and gives us a clearer vision on what his purpose means. But with Joss you can't have the serious without the humor and once again Cordy has her moments, as does Angel. I find it a wonderful experience that I can laugh out loud at some of these lines, something that I not often do, something that great writing procures! One thing Joss and David need to be wary of is this formula seems to have fallen into. [Dynamic Trio gathers at office, Doyle has vision, Angel find girl, Angel fights Demon, Angel saves girl, Dynamic Trio gathers at office.] Let's branch out, let's stay dark and mysterious, and let's not be able to guess what happens in each act. Surprise me, thrill me. Do the famous Joss "Oh no, I can't believe he did that. He's evil!" Twist! I would like to applaud the Casting Director for Angel, all of the actresses so far have been worth watching and deserve a marker. Keep an eye on these ladies, they have much talent for the future.
