Review of I Will Remember You

There is a little known club in the Bronze posting board of the Buffy Web Site known as 'Joss is Evil' . . . this is why! Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing. Actually I regard it as an honorable club, it attests to the extreme lengths of emotions that Joss can pull our heartstrings.

This is the crossover everyone has been waiting for this season. Buffy and Angel reunited! One hour prior to this episode on BtVS, Angel returns to Sunnydale to help Buffy when Doyles vision shows her in need. His desire to protect her heart as well keeps him in the shadows as everyone but Buffy finds he has returned. Only at the end of BtVS, thanks to a slip from Xander, does she discover her senses were right.

This episode is brilliant on many counts. First it's written by David and Jeannie. David is really getting into Joss' head here and it's nice to see new talent where one would expect to only see Whedon wielding. Chris Becks' 'Buffy/Angel Love Theme' returns at the moment when you thought one tissue box was enough. We've all speculated on this reunion but the twists and the ending were out of Oz. There can't be enough said about the chemistry between Sarah and David's acting. We haven't seen two mesh and meld together this way since Bogie and Bacall. Drama, passion, humor and genuine sparkage.

Thank Joss I'm spoiler-free because the shock that went through me when Angel stated he was alive knocked my socks off! Okay well, not really but my mouth did drop! We were finally quenched with a moment of B&A happiness and when reality struck the tears did roll.

One swipe: The Oracles were a bit hokey and reminded me of Clash of the Titans. On ANGEL I would expect to see something more along the darker lines of Conan.

Major kudos to the Powers That Be: Joss and Co. !

I give it . . .

= Disappointing, stake it, bury it!
= Not too bad, Lacking a few graves.
= Typical Dark Avenger saves the day Saga.

= Outstanding! Reward it with mortality!

Angel: “Look, Buffy will always be a part of me, and that’s never going to change. But she’s human and I’m… not… and that’s also never going to change. Look, we said our goodbyes, no need to stir any of that up again.”
Cordelia: “You don’t want to stir, but… if my ex came to town and was all staking me in the shadows and then left and then he didn’t even say hello, I’d be…
Buffy: “… A little upset. Wouldn’t you?”

Cordelia: "Batten down the hatches, here comes hurricane Buffy."

Cordelia: "Well this is Doyle and he gets visions of people in trouble and this is us leaving you two alone."

Cordelia: "Oh yeah, the Buffy and Angel show. First they talk out their differences, then they punch them out."

Angel: “I feel weird.”
Buffy: “I know… I do, too. I—I mean I only came so I could tell you face-to-face not to see me face-to-face anymore—and I know there’s a fly in that logic ointment somewhere—the next thing I know we’re being attacked by that mutant ninja demon thing, then we’re on the floor on top of each other… It’s just really confusing being around you.”
Angel: “I meant I feel weird from the demon’s blood. It’s powerful.”

Cordelia: "She killed him! She Killed him! Oops, my bad! That's just dust I forgot to sweep under the rug."

Cordelia: "Oh please they've got the forbidden love of all time. They've been apart for months. Now he's suddenly human. I'm sure they're down there just having tea and crackers. Let me explain the lore here, okay? They suffer, they fight, that’s business as usual. They get groiny with one another, the world as we know it falls apart.

Buffy: "You're human for like a minute and already there's cookie dough fudge mint chip in your fridge."

Cordelia: "I am good for exactly two things. International superstar or helping a vampire with a soul to rid the world of evil."

Buffy: "Angel, this is the first time I've ever really felt this way... Just like I've always wanted to… Like a normal girl falling asleep in her normal boyfriend’s arms."

Mohra Demon: “The End of Days has begun and cannot be stopped. For any one of us who falls, ten shall rise.”
Buffy: “You hurt my boyfriend!”
Mohra Demon: “A great darkness is coming—”
Buffy: “You got that right!”

Sister Oracle: “This one is willing to sacrifice every drop of human happiness and love he has ever known for another. He is NOT a lower being.”

Buffy: "I'll never forget! I'll never forget! I'll never forget! I'll never forget! I'll never forget!"
