Act I: ![]() Hearing the commotion from the other room, Doyle says that they should do something. However, Cordy tells Doyle that Buffy and Angel resolve their differences by fighting, misinterpreting what is really going on there. The two leave the building. The Mohra demon attacks Angel and Buffy joins in the fight. Angel stabs it but it escapes into the sewers, where Angel, armed with an axe, and Buffy, armed with a stake follow. As they follow the demon heading towards the ocean, bickering at each other. They both feel awkward being in each otherÍs presence again and Angel tells her he feels weird, rubbing the traces of Mohra demon blood on his hand. ![]() Further along in the sewers, the Mohra demon attacks Angel and cuts his hand. While fighting Angel kills the demon but not before some more of its blood gets on Angel's hand and mixes with the blood from his cut. There is an odd glow on his hand and Angel drops to his knees. A flash of light engulfs his body, making him cry out. It is followed by a deep gulp of air and Angel, with a pained and shocked expression, says, "I'm alive," the beating of his heart thundering in the background. Act II: ![]() Later in his study, Angel finds the demon in one of his occult texts, The Book of Kelsor. Doyle reads that it is a Mohra demon, an assassin of the Soldiers of Darkness and that its veins run with the ñblood of eternityî and it needs salt to survive as Angel looks at his reflection in the glass. Angel wants to know why this happened to him and Doyle explains that the Powers That Be only divulge information on a need to know basis. Angel wants to talk to them but Doyle explains he can only do so through channels and reluctantly agrees to take him to the Oracles. At the Gateway to Lost Souls, a subterranean cave located under the post office, Doyle performs an incantation that will gain Angel access to the Oracles but warns him that they are finicky. Only Angel can go because he is a 'warrior' as Doyle is just a 'lowly messenger'. ![]() With that, Angel is returned to the cave, standing beside Doyle, who says that Angel had just stepped through the door. Angel informs Doyle he is human again and has no idea where to go, nor what to do. Doyle asks him what he wants. Buffy is down by the beach and as soon as she senses Angel, she turns around. She watches as he steps out of the shadows and into the sunlight without bursting into flames and walks towards her. Smiling, Angel takes a stunned Buffy in his arms and kisses her passionately. Act III: ![]() Down in Angel's kitchen, he offers Buffy some more tea. They talk about not rushing into things because now Angel doesn't know what his purpose is anymore and doesn't want to jeopardize Buffy. She admits she has fantasized about him being human. She gets up to leave and they touch hands, which leads to a kiss, which leads to a passionate embrace, and to both of them on top of the kitchen table. Later that night, a rather naked Angel is at the refrigerator. He runs to the bed where Buffy, dressed in his shirt, helps him with his mortal coordination as he accidentally drips ice cream on his chest, which she likes off. Meanwhile, Cordy and Doyle are at a local bar reflecting on how she is out of a job now and how Doyle is off the hook with the Powers That Be. No sooner when the words are out of his mouth, he suddenly has a mind-splitting vision. In it, he sees that the Mohra demon is back, bigger and badder and stronger than before. In AngelÍs apartment, Buffy and Angel are lying in bed together as she listens to his heartbeat. She doesn't want the day to end but he tells her: "Sleep, we'll make another one like it tomorrow." She's happy to finally be a normal girl in the arms of her normal boyfriend. Just then, Doyle wakes up Angel and informs him that his vision showed him that the Mohra demon regenerated. Deducing it needs salt to survive, Angel believe it might be heading towards a saline plant in Redondo and wants to go after it alone. However, Doyle wants to Buffy along but Angel tells him to let her sleep and not ruin her perfect day. He also wants to be able to handle this alone; otherwise it canÍt work out between him and the Chosen. They next get the Book of Kelsor and research ways to kill the demon. At an industrial plant Doyle reads from the book and tells Angel to kill it by destroying the thousand eyes. Angel gets nauseous at the sight of some dead bodies„another new adjustment to being human--when the Mohra demon gets the drop on them, immediately knocking Doyle and going after Angel. Act IV: ![]() Back at the saline plant, the fight continues as Angel and the demon fall into a huge chasm beneath the surface. The demon informs him that the End of Days has begun when Buffy arrives. He continues to announce that a great darkness is coming and together they were powerful but alone they will die. Buffy continues to fight the demon as a battered Angel tells her to smash the jewel in his forehead, which is the demonÍs ñthousand eyesî that Doyle mentioned. She does and as a brilliant light consumes the demon. Next, Buffy rushes to cradle a beaten Angel in her arms. The next day Angel has returned to the Oracles. He asks if what the demon said was true about the End of Days. They confirm that the Slayer will die. Angel wants to return to his vampire self. They say they cannot change what has been done. He argues that the assassin took a warrior from their cause and he can't protect her or anyone as a human. They agree to create a temporal fold for 24 hours as if the day never happened. They tell him that he alone will remember and it's another burden that he will shoulder. ![]() Suddenly a flash of light itÍs a day before as Angel finds himself back in his office with Buffy, who confronts him on his actions in Sunnydale, ending the discussion by the ñenough time had passed for them to forgetî speech. The Mohra demon crashes through the window. Knowing what to do, Angel smashes the jewel in its forehead, killing it. Buffy, amazed, asks how he knew to kill it and he replied he's had time to catch up on his reading. As he looks at the clock, itÍs 9:02 a.m. Buffy turns and leaves.
